This Riad was built only a couple of years ago in the traditional Moroccan material, mud and straw. It stands out as a really unique place, being situated far out in the desert of southern Morocco. The view is just magnificent. We spent one night there late in March, 2012. Nomads in the area stayed on the huge dry lake beneath the hotel with about one hundred camels. Besides the odd truck and some Paris-Dakar-lookalikes travelling on motorbikes, there was no traffic. The rooms are big, the standard is simple, but it is all clean, there is hot and cold water, wc and shower. Electricity comes from a diesel generator that they have placed at a good distance from the hotel; hot water from wood-fired tanks at the back of the hotel. If you´re travelling in the area, don´t miss out on this hotel!
One thing though - the only spot with any hope of a mobile phone signal was right above our heads at the front of the hotel. The staff had placed their phones there, and they rang frequently. Guests come here for tranquility, not to hear mobile phones ringing!
