“A great time had by all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

Trip was planned to celebrate 11 year old's birthday with friends.

As they were pretty busy, we got the garden rooms, to be honest the only difference I could see was that they don't have a bath and are slightly smaller and of course don't overlook the creek, BUT the garden is beautiful with all the water falls and plants etc and there is the plunge pool that the kids spent many an hour in.

Since our last trip there is the new bar which has a gorgeous view over the creek and the upstairs is a kid free (under 16) zone!

Food was enjoyed by all, staff brilliant, the pool and view are to die for and with the water sports offered by 3 degrees (guests are offered a taster of kayaking, windsurfing or sailing) who are very safety aware and RYA certified, what more does one need. The Mums relaxed on the beach while the kids had great fun snorkeling, sailing and kayaking.

Highly recommend if you want somewhere that appeals to the whole family and the kids didn't want anything 'electronic' as they were too busy having fun in the water!

We are going back for half term

Room Tip: Creek rooms are closer to the beach.

Good points
• Spectacular location with amazing views.
• All staff exceptionally friendly, genuine and attentive, took time to learn our names and could not do enough for us. One staff member (Michael) took us for a walk into the village and to visit the school when we expressed an interest. Plenty of activities should you wish to participate including water aerobics, cycling, daily walks and board games. Staff loved a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary - all available staff would sing and dance and bang pans etc for the happy person.
• Spacious infinity pool with large choice of sunbeds – none of this ‘saving a bed with a towel’ nonsense – there was no need. Waiters happy to bring drinks and have a chat.
• Fresh delicious food with a good choice of dishes. Chef made it his personal mission to walk around the dining room asking our opinion on dishes. He copied out a recipe for a soup when it was praised. Lots of variety such as a beach barbecue one evening and a poolside meal another.
• The rooms. Spotless and well-maintained. With good bathroom and excellent air con. The rooms are sprayed daily and mosquito nets are pulled around the beds.
• The public spaces. Lovely restaurant and bar areas and helpful reception. Shop is small but had all essentials and some luxuries – good selection of novels for an informal library service.
• The private beach. Fabulous facilities and free water-sports. Plenty of beds and attentive assistants. The sea is clear and blue but it is best to wear shoes in the ocean because of the urchins. Private beach is important as we heard from other holiday makers in other resorts that they could not venture on to the beach for fear of being hassled by beach sellers. Our security was vigilant and rigorous….locals could cross the beach but could not try to sell to us.
• Variety of ‘evening activities’ – these included a reptile rescue night, Masai dancers, acrobats, a guitarist and a vocal harmony group. No discos, karaokes etc and the bar was deserted by 11:30. This might not suit everyone.
• Abundance of wildlife in the hotel. Monkeys, lizards and ghekkos. Butterflies and birds. Trees, flowers and bushes. Brilliant!

Safari
• Wow wow wow. Breathtaking, awe inspiring and though provoking. Surpassed all our expectations. Lucky enough to be there for the migration.
• Flight to Masai Mara bit dubious due to small plane and numerous landings and takeoffs to collect tourists but all worth it in the end,
My super tip would be to take a fleece, a swimsuit and money for tips etc. Many hotel cash card machines did not work

Mombasa
• Day trip organised by hotel well worth it – saw Fort Jesus, Halle Park and various shops and views around the city.

This was a holiday of a lifetime. Think we have been spoiled and can’t imagine what we will ever do to come anywhere near the experience we have had and the memories we have made.

Room Tip: We had a creek room but all seemed excellent

The Mnarani Club remains one of our favourite hotels anywhere. What makes it so good ?

* The fantastic friendly and welcoming attitude of every single person working there, including the managers, chefs, waiters, gardeners, beach staff, spa staff, entertainment staff etc etc. (Special thanks to Patrick and DIda at the beach, and Shida the gardener)

* Great home-cooked and varied food.

* Excellent watersports, including dinghy and catamaran sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and kayaks, run by 3 Degrees South who are a top notch RYA-accredited training establishment, with a mixture of British and Kenyan staff, all very experienced instructors (and mostly ex-Neilson). They also run a local sailing scene with weekly racing.

* Stunning location and views, particularly from the upper floor creek rooms. Lovely beach overhung with trees and flowers.

* Lovely rooms with comfortable beds and proper big mosquito nets, cleaned perfectly twice a day.

This remains one of our favourite places to be. Incredibly relaxing, plus great watersports if that's your thing (we sail back in the UK.)

Room Tip: Creek rooms are larger than garden rooms, with good views of the creek from the upper floor.

Mnarani Club Hotel is in one of the most beautiful bays I have ever seen The Location is second to none. The warmth of the welcome is unsurpassed. The Staff and management alike took great pride in making you feel at home and the attention to detail when it came to the service they offered was breathtaking. Everything and everyone was relaxed and welcoming. The idea that such a lovely hotel with such wonderful facilities would not have a television in each room was intriguing but as one of the managers said to me, " When you come to Kenya we want you to see Kenya. You can watch television any time." A Stroke of genius. The Kenyan attitude towards the travellers and towards each other should be embraced by the rest of the world as the bench mark and was mirrored in every aspect of the service we received at the Mnarani. Best place we have ever been. Truly Lovely. D and G

Myself and my wife Diane stayed at this hotel from 4th August to the 18th August. We booked over 12 months ago, and were always reading the reviews. We found it hard to believe that the reviews were so glowing. But they were all true. The hotel, staff, and management ( Elma and Henk). Were FANTASTIC! Everyone was so friendly and just could not do enough for everyone. We can't mention all by name as they were all as good as each other. All of the staff we spoke to, could not fault Elma and Henk, and said they were fantastic to work for. We had to buy various food etc for a school we are involved in, and they ordered this for us. So we got it at cost price.
We have been to Kenya twice before, and although Kilifi is abut 35k from Mombassa where we stayed before. This was our favourite all we plan to return in 2015 with our daughter Jess and Andy. Our son Jamie and Lynsey. We will go to the Mnarani again, and hope Elma and Henk are still at the helm. Thanks to all. Don't change a thing. Phil and Diane Room 58.

Room Tip: We suspect all rooms are to a high standard. On our visit Hamisi was fantastic and always the room w...

The management and staff are highly polished. Thanks to the receptionist in duty Abdalla Makuri, the manager Henk venter and the whole team for making our short stay a memorable and relaxing one. I will definitely be back. I Highly recommend this place.
