“Relaxation in Central Kenya”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

My husband and I spent 2 lovely nights at Murera Springs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
The rooms a lovely, and all privately tucked away in the bush - complete privacy. The beds are some of the most comfortable beds I've encountered in Kenya!
Unlike some of the other reviews, the food was very good and a nice variety. The chef even came to our table to introduce himself on our first night.
If you are looking for a mid-priced accomodation - this is very good.
Meru park is absolutely stunning. A must see if you are in Kenya for a long stay.

Room Tip: Ask for Tent #2 - tucked away from the restaurant - lots of privacy

We are a couple who stayed at Murena Springs Eco Lodge last week for three nights after climbing Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya. Our goal with the stay was to relax and recuperate after 1,5 weeks of camping and hiking, and we were not disappointed! We were the only guests at the lodge (the election in Kenya taking place at the same time scaring away the others I suppose) and that added of course to the feeling of seclusion. We are vegetarians and that was catered for excellently. There's a small pool with nice chilling water right by the sun beds. We went on a morning and afternoon safari at Meru NP and saw lots of animals, no predators however.
The lodge is solar driven with LED lights in the rooms. Could be good to have a headlamp if you like good reading light. Charging of phones etc. can be done at the reception. No Internet available and cell phone reception is poor in the area.

This is a great place to visit. Friendly staff, great food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. While here we went on a trip to Meru National park which was awesome. They have a swimming pool, the rooms are clean and well set up.

Ecolodge is absolutely excellent in all respects . The meals are very high quality, the staff superb , the welcome personal and the overall experience cannot be faulted. We would definitely return there if we ever return to Kenya. No website but a good Facebook page plus videos on YouTube to give a good flavour.

We have just returned from a 2day stay at Murera Springs Eco Lodge. It was our first experience to stay in an Eco lodge and it was very interesting. The rooms are made out of paper marche boards, lighting and the water heating is all through solar panels. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The hot showers are delightful. Each room is very privately and discreetly positioned giving you the feeling that you are all alone in the bush. The whole camp is in a heavily treed area so lots of monkeys in the trees but they do not come down to bother you. The only disappointing part was the service at meal times. The camp was full and we only had 1 waiter serving us all. The food took forever to get to the table and when it did, it was mediocre. Much needs to be done to improve the service and the food. We had to keep complaining to the manager who tried to make an effort to please us. All in all the children had a great time too in the pool and also on the walk to the nearby farm. I wish to note that they have also provided hammocks under the trees for your complete relaxation treat. Get prepared for a very long journey - around 5 hours from Nairobi, but it is well worth the trip.
Mere National Park has lots to offer in terms of game viewing and it is always interesting to visit a different park.

Room Tip: The rooms closer to the dining - 2-6 are much easier to access especially if you have children

Our two night stay there was a total treat, from the comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, great food, and friendly companionship from the lodge's manager and staff to the incredible night sounds from the forest surrounding us and the beauty of the nearby game preserve (Meru National Park). The lodge even has a small but clean and well-maintained swimming pool--a refreshing way to recuperate from the day's hot and dusty safari rides. And the lodge's ecological focus and reliance on solar energy, recycled materials, reduced energy and water consumption and other sound practices made the experience even more special--without compromising comfort in the least. All in all, it was a truly memorable and delightful experience that I hope to repeat soon.

We spent our New Year 2011/2012 at the lodge- 14 people. It had comfortable rooms and nice bathrooms. Vegetarian meals were limited but the Chef catered well for us. The manager - Mr. Muse looked after us. At night, you have to get use to the creaking sounds of the life around to sleep well. On the whole, very relaxing and peaceful without the the modern gadgets!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms opposite the dining area - No. 3, 4, 5, 6.
