A solid Marriott hotel but not a patch on the great stay we had in the JW Marriott downtown at roughly the same price. Everything is much as you'd expect - clean, reasonably spacious rooms, a welcoming bar with decent food options, and a moderate breakfast bar but a good choice on the menu.

This was my second trip to this hotel in as many months. The room was definitely clean and the staff was friendly. Neither that said, the quality of the breakfast buffet is gong down a bit. They no longer have a waffle and omelette station at the buffet. While you can order these items at no extra charge, the lack of those items makes the breakfast bar seem sad. Several days there was also no bread or bagels put out. Not a huge deal, but just detracted from the already mediocre ambiance.

Also, be warned that if you are using the $20 daily credit that comes with government rates, that there are a number of exceptions that they don't tell at check in.

Our team stayed here for a recent youth sports tournament, and the hotel did a good job catering to the needs of multiple youth teams. They set aside two conference rooms to serve as hospitality suites -- essentially giving the kids a place to hang out that wasn't the hallways or the lobby. One disappointment was that breakfast wasn't included -- something that is frequently done for tournament teams, and wireless internet was mostly free. You had to be a rewards club member (no status required), but that wasn't made clear to all of the guests. Some folks complained among the team until they were told how to get access. No idea if they got a refund for the nights they had to pay.

Hotel rooms were on par with what you'd expect at a Marriott. Indoor pool was good and a lifeguard was provided (apparently this is Maryland law) but parents need to be present. Unfortunately, the hot tub was off limits to guests under 16, even with adult supervision.

The hotel was a bit pricey by tournament standards, but there's nothing we could do about it regarding points, discounts, etc. The tournament makes a deal with area hotels, and youth teams are required to stay at the hotels to which they're assigned, and the tournament organizer gets their cut. You've got to pay to play :(

Last complaint, as others have stated -- V E R Y slow elevators. The hotel is 18 stories, and there are only 3 elevators.

Room Tip: Lower floor in case you want to give up on the VERY slow elevators.

I stayed here for 5 nights on a business trip. The hotel was pretty good, but certainly not amazing.

Pro:
-government rate includes daily $20 credit
-facility is clean
-pool isn't huge but pretty good for a business hotel

Cons:
-decor is a bit dated
-bathroom in standard rooms are tiny
-quality of the hot items in the breakfast buffet was lacking

I will stay here again for future trips.

Stayed here for a week for a work meeting at nearby University of Maryland campus. Hotel was very nice with excellent facilities, clean comfortable rooms, and very nice beds. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Did have a couple of small issues. The incidental type expenses were very expensive (even for a hotel) - for example, 20 oz bottle of soda was $3.50, in-room WiFi was $12.95. Also, the shuttle between the hotel and Greenbelt metro station only runs at the top of the hour. I got to the metro station from DCA about 25 minutes after the top of the hour and called about the shuttle - and was told I would have to wait until the next one came at the hour. I had stayed at a less expensive hotel in Greenbelt a few months ago, and their shuttle went back and forth from the metro station as folks needed it.

stayed for a night on 8th of July, 2014 and the experience was just awesome. lobby is huge and very comfortable to sit and the environment was very quite, for some reason wifi connectivity was very poor in the room and I had to come down twice to the lobby to access internet on my phone which was a major drawback,my mother was also disappointed for the same reason The pool was indoor and looked awesome though I didn't have time to swim because we had to check out early, Breakfast was really nice, I really appreciate the variety they had to offer. The property also has starbucks for coffee lovers and even a small convenience store to grab chips or coke. Overall the stay was pleasant, wouldn't mind staying here again

I was here just tagging along on someone else's work trip - they had a conference at the hotel. So I assumed that it would be pain for me to get to and from central DC each day from this location - but it really wasn't at all! The hotel provides a free shuttle to the metro station on the hour, every hour from 7am-9pm, and that's just a 5 min trip. Bruce the driver was great to talk to! The metro then only takes 30 mins to get to the Smithsonian stop.
All the Marriot staff were lovely and gave great advice about what to see and do. I also really liked the barman, and there was a great food and wine selection. Because the hotel is not close to shops/cafes, it's great to have a small convenience store and a starbucks on site.
Room was really comfortable, nice products in the bathroom, and super fast room service. No complaints at all!
