“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2008

First off I will say that the property and the views were gorgeous and the breakfast was quite delicious as well. However, this bed and breakfast was very disappointing. My boyfriend and I wanted a nice quiet Valentine's weekend but this was anything but. We chose room 5 and it was extremely small. There was also an abundance of noise. Both mornings we were awakened by 7am with the noise downstairs. One afternoon we tried to take a nap and there was a constant slamming of the door downstairs from people arriving early for dinner. We were also disturbed by two children running up and down the hall repeatedly. Although the area is charming and exactly what we were hoping for the size of the room and the noise will deter us from returning.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Inn for two nights and had a woderful experience. The only two complaints we had was that the mattress in our room was showing some signs of wear and the weather (it rained). And only one of those was under the inn's control. While the breakfast was good, the dinner was phenominal! I personally reccomend that anyone staying here (or anywhere else in Gatlinburgh for that matter) dine here at least one time,

This is a wonderful place to stay in the Gatlinburg area.
You are far enough away from the circus that is Gatlinburg to enjoy the peace and quite of the mountains but close enough to be in the thick of things in just a few miles.
My wife and I stayed in one of the cabins. It was clean and comfortable with a gas fireplace and a view of the mountains that is priceless. There is a TV in the living room and no TV in the bedroom.
We enjoyed two dinners and two breakfasts at the inn and all were very good. BTW, you can bring your own wine to dinner and there is no corkage fee.
There is a pair of swans on a pond and nature trails. There are benches and a labryrinth.
We would stay here again.

For 5 1/2 months, since making reservations to spend Thanksgiving at the Buckhorn Inn, my husband and I eagerly anticipated our three-night stay at this highly recommended retreat in the Smokies. We were not disappointed; it was quite a memorable way to spend the holiday!

The gracious innkeepers and their friendly, courteous staff were the epitome of hospitality. Bountiful breakfasts, a roaring fire in the fireplace, and a view of Mt. LeConte from the dining room windows got each day off to a wonderful start. We thoroughly enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner, an all-you-can-eat buffet of turkey, smoked fish, boiled shrimp, the tastiest, most tender ham ever (it was baked in Dr. Pepper!), several vegetables perfectly seasoned, salads, fist-size homemade rolls, an assortment of desserts (including the best pecan pie on the planet), and the companionship of other guests who also appreciated the tranquility and traditions of this fine historic inn which was established in 1938.

We stayed in the Tower Room and loved the tri-level treetop haven. Twenty-six steps take you up to the cozy bedroom with a queen-size bed and a four-sided view of the forest and mountains; a nice-size bathroom is on the middle level, and the first floor sitting room is good for storing luggage and purchases made at nearby arts and crafts shops. We loved the Tower and appreciated the resident ladybugs for sharing their inviting and unforgettable accommodations with two retirees.

Thank you, Buckhorn Inn, for a very special Thanksgiving! We hope to continue the tradition next year.

My wife surprised me with a 2 night stay at the Buckhorn for my birthday.Checkin was great, the service was great and the food was great as well. And talk about a view! While eating in the dining room, you can look out the window and see beautiful Mt. LeConte (the Smokies' highest mountain). In the area of the Inn is a number of craft shops and art galleries, which were delightful to browse. And, in addition, the Inn is only a few minutes away from downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It was a wonderful stay.

Tucked into a mountain road just off (but a world away) from the gaudy insanity that is Dollywood/Galtinburg, the Buckhorn transports the visitor into a self-contained bubble of beauty, serenity and genteel southern hospitality. The views of the Smoky Mountains from all windows is remarkable, ever changing, inspirational. There are acres of walking paths and a lovely pond with swans. There is a unique amenity as well: a labyrinth, a winding, walking meditation site next to a zen garden, perfect for centering and gratitude.
I felt kissed and healed by all of it.

The inn is professionally run by an army of attentive staff, and owner Lee is present to orchestrate, meet and greet. All comforts are provided in the guest rooms.
Beds are firm and comfortable. Everything is clean as a whistle, always the ultimate luxury for me.
The food is remarkable, both at breakfast and dinner.
The meals are healthy, delicious, well prepared and presented elegantly. A raging wood fire is always provided in the dining room at meal times, smelling wonderful, looking beautiful.
Lots of reading material is available for information and relaxation. I enjoyed reading the fascinating history of this inn, established in the 1930s. I am amazed at the quality of the maintenance and decor.

Because I can never escape from my work/email duties, I was, at first, a bit horrified that the rooms/cottages do not have wireless internet, but I found that going to the parlors to compute
enhanced the quietude of the guest room and caused me to relax in a big way.

I took a side trip to drive through the mountains but wished, ultimately, never to leave the Buckhorn Inn.

My life is improved for having spent a few days of healing and happiness at The Buckhorn Inn. I hope that I can return annually to enjoy the rare perfection of Buckhorn Inn!

We just enjoyed another weekend at the Buckhorn Inn, and what a lovely respite from the cares of the world. The Inn is older, well-established, and run by a delightfully classy couple who attend to every detail including decorating and furnishings, breakfast, dinner, and our total comfort. The optional dinner is always a four-course sumptious meal served by soft lamplight on white linen-covered tables, and the more casual breakfast is hosted by the innkeepers who obviously enjoy getting to know their guests. Twenty-five acres of hills, woods, hiking trail, gardens, and a lovely pond make this a true destination getaway for those of us whose lives are much too harried. We always look forward to going back again and again no matter the season.
