“Affordable Stay in a Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

We usually stay in cabins when we visit the Smokies, but they're pricey, and this time we wanted to be right among the action on Gatlinburg's main strip. The Best Western Crossroads is not as centrally located as we would have liked, but is still within walking distance to everything the town has to offer.

Our room was on the fourth floor and was like a suite, with separate living room and bedroom areas. The housekeeping staff (I believe it was Barbara-thank you!) did an amazing job with keeping things clean and stocked. The only thing we found lackluster was the breakfast. The area was rather messy--tables not clean, food and spills in the serving area. The waffles were not good, nor was the coffee (the room's coffee was better). Not that we cared all that much. Gatlinburg has fantastic food establishments. We never went hungry.

For the price and location, if you want to stay in the downtown Gatlinburg area, I'd highly recommend the Best Western Crossroads Inn.

The people were excellent to work with. You can tell hotel is older though. The first room I stayed in there was just not in good condition at all. The second was better but still things were in need of repair.

I have stayed at numerous hotels in Gatlinburg over many years, and this was one of the best. The hotel room was clean and quiet. The location was close enough to walk to town multiple times with small children. The breakfast was great for my kids with hot and cold items to chose from. You could tell the pool was older, as it went to 8 feet in depth, but it was clean and maintained. My girls loved the "kids" pool, but it was nice to all of us to relax in. There was a small hole in the way in the room, but it did not detract from the room. The TV was a nice wall-mounted flat screen. My gripe was that the remote did not work properly. We contacted the front desk and followed their instructions, the the channel up/down would not work which was a pain when stuck in the room with a sick kid. One concern that I noticed was that it was dangerous for adults getting into the kid's pool (slippery). I watched 2 adults slip and fall while getting into the pool, one whom was holding an infant. Overall it was a great stay and I would recommend this hotel.

Spent 4 nights with my kiddos at the hotel. Room was ok. The tub did not drain properly - at all. Door to bathroom had problems sticking. Room door had some issues closing. Pool was pretty dirty. Hot breakfast every morning was nice. Liked being able to be off the main drag of Gatlinburg. Close to walk to everything.

We arrive at this hotel and checked in. The lobby reeked of some unknown odor. No big deal we thought, we are staying in the lobby. Went to our room and discovered a whole new odor. This one was easily identifiable as mold. Went back to the lobby and asked for a new room. They had no more suites left, but they sent us to another room. This one was odor free, but the bed had serious lumps in it that showed where the last people slept. So, we went back to the lobby and got keys for two rooms to inspect. One smelled vaguely of cigarettes. The other was good. So we chose that one.

Then the night came. And what a loud raucous place. If you are looking for a peaceful night sleep don't come here. The pool is open till 11 PM and apparently their is a party there every night. The room's walls are thin, so you get to enjoy all the noise. Want to sleep in? Well the hotel's convenient location, means there is traffic noise coming into your room too.

Then there is the mystery I never figured out. How is it, that with the weather at night being in the low sixties, our room always got so hot that the air conditioner was turning itself on and off all night long, night after night?

We will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Sniff before you pay.

Happy helpful staff. When the computer wouldn't work they had a maintenance man drive me across the street to their sister property in a golf cart! Loved the looks of their sister property Best Western Twin Islands! Nice, huge rooms with lots of granite bathroom countertop space. Nice fitness room too but call ahead so they can unlock it. Breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold. People were constantly working to clean or repair. It is obvious ownership cares about the property. Super clean in a great location with a touch of nostalgic travel style.
