“Good place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

This was the first time my family and I stay at Zoders and well not as great as I was wanting but a lot better than what we have stayed at. Nice walking distance to town.
The staff was great in the beginning check in was awesome the cleaning lady suburb we could not have asked for a cleaner room. The lady that gives you milk and cookies not so friendly I try to talk to her and was blown off. The view of the creek was great our room was right over the water and was awesome. They have 2 pools 1 indoor and 1 outdoor both small but for location and having two pools to get in was really good, both clean and heated. The out door sitting area was little less than ok really not that great. At check out well less than appealing. At first it was great I let them know how great the cleaning lady was and how friendly the staff had been and she seemed not to really care. We check out and left and noticed the bill was wrong we were to get a free day so we went back in or my wife went back in. This is when the niceness and friendliness went out the window. They called my wife a liar and that more less she could not read. See we made reservations in March for early bird and it was clear as day even on our reservation conformation we printed out that we showed them that we were to receive a free night stay 2 get 1 free. Well we got the night after the the woman got so mad at my wife and "Said I just don't care". We may or may not stay here again that is yet to be decided. we stayed in room 174 June 3-5

Room Tip: If you stay make sure you do not have to discus money with them if there wrong it will ruin the good...

We spent six nights at Zoder's in June. The motel is an older motel but very clean and up-to-date. We enjoyed our balcony that overlooked the river. It was so peaceful sitting out there and watching the ducks. It is the most quiet motel we have ever stayed in. Breakfast was very good as well as the cookies and milk at night. We didn't get to partake of the wine and cheese in the evening. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It is a family owned motel and you can certainly tell that in the manner in which you are treated. We left our car parked and rode the trolley to places of interest. Very economical. We are definitely going to stay her again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony on the river.

Just returned from 4 nights' stay in a standard King room. What a great experience! Hotel is on the edge of town (quiet area) and an easy walk to all the Gatlinburg goodies. The room was clean, clean, clean; balcony over the creek was AWESOME in every way; FREE breakfast, FREE afternoon wine/cheese and FREE bedtime cookies and milk will save you a ton of cash and make you feel extra special; and the staff? They've all been there forever and know what it takes to give you hospitality the friendly, professional, old fashioned way. We saw all kinds of people here: families, bikers, singles, older couples, etc. 100% recommend! You'll be glad you made this choice. We had a great time and hope to come back soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a 1st floor room with creekside balcony

This hotel is definitely an older hotel but it was very clean! We were worried when we pulled into the parking lot and even more worried when we saw how the hotel is set up. But, we were pleasantly surprised when we saw the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom has been remodeled and was very comfortable. I always check the mattresses when staying at a hotel. The mattress in our room looked new and was clean and comfortable. We loved the balcony over the creek. The hotel is on the strip in Gatlinburg, but a little farther than all of the action so it was on the quieter side. We will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Get a room with a creekside balcony!

We spent one night here before starting the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a lovely surprise!! I was horrified as we drove through Pigeon Forge on our way there at the huge number of hotels, theme parks, and other tacky tourist places in what is such a beautful area. Gatlinburg, is not as bad, but is still tacky in places. However, this place is well away from that part, and is set just below the mountains, close to the start of the Roaring Fork Nature Road.
It is like being out in the country, with the sound of rushing water and trees surrounding it, and we had a warm welcome on our arrival.
The room is a bit dated, and the carpet felt a bit "icky", but the balcony overlooking the creekside was wonderful, and we spent a fair time sitting out there - watch out for the insects - I did get bitten!!
We enjoyed our swim in the indoor and outdoor pools, and went for the cheese and wine - ok it was a bit basic, but it was COMPLIMENTARY - what do people expect? I though it was a very nice gesture. The breakfast was less enjoyable as you had to "ask" for the food and drinks, and the toasted bagel took a while - can't imagine what the wait would be like if it had been busy with people all wanting toasted items!! The pools and breakfast area was quite a walk from our room as the bridge was closed, hopefully this will be open now the busy season has started.
I loved the peacefulness and tranquility of this place away from the bustle of the towns in the area, and with a bit of updating and TLC would give this place an excellent rating. Would definitely return if ever in the area again.

There is much to love about Zoders Inn! We are in agreement with the pros and cons that others have indicated here. The good: Creekside balconies are wonderful and relaxing! Grounds are orderly and make you feel you are somewhere in a country setting, not in downtown Gatlinburg! Love the indoor pool and jacuzzi. And we absolutely love the staff, particularly Michael and Heath! We had a long conversation with Michael and his enthusiasm for Zoders is exceeding! We have been here five times in the past 2 years because it provides a relaxing, soothing vacation for me! We even had our wedding ceremony performed on the balcony of our favorite room!

The bad and the ugly: Interior of the rooms need a complete overhaul and are in dire need of updating. Yes, it is generally clean and the beds are comfortable. But let’s get rid of the rocker/recliners in the 110s and replace with non-upholstered furniture at the table! How about adding a microwave? Curtains are dirty and need replacing. Wallpaper is peeling. Pictures on walls have a bit of mold. Furniture is sorely outdated. The formica counters are atrocious. Watch that you don't accidently lock you yourself out on the balcony (easy fix). Wine is cheese is nice, but quality is so-so. I could go on and on. It seems that the management/staff love Zoders more than the owners do (the property is up for sale...still).

We go with eyes wide open and we do love it there; to us, the good compensates for the bad and ugly. But we really wish it was all good! And it COULD be!

Room Tip: Creekside room is best!

This place was fantastic. Our room was a little dated but wonderful. We had a gas fireplace, a Jacuzzi, a his/hers bathroom, a sitting area, and a balcony with 2 lounge chairs overlooking the indoor and outdoor pools. For everything we got with the room, and on a holiday weekend, the price was great!!

We loved our stay here and will definitely be back our next trip to Gatlinburg.
