When we travel, we travel economy. My husband, eight year old son, and myself took a last minute vacation at the end of September, 2008, booking a room at the Wildwood for 6 days. Located on the outer edge of Gatlinburg, in the Pigeon Forge side, you are still within walking distance of the main activities of Gatlinburg.

Our room assigment was on the 4th floor, end room. The room was beautiful. My one requirement is high speed access, so immediately, I fire up the lap top and check. The only spot for receiption was on the balcony. When I called the front desk, they were extremely accomodating and immediately moved us four doors down to a room with perfect receiption and with a fireplace to boot, for the same price.

The WIldwood allows you to be close enough to the action of Gatlinburg without all the noise. Yes, the rooms are older, but they are large and comfortable. Wear and tear is typical in a resort area, and is to be expected wherever your stay. Wildwood is no worse than other places we have stayed. The cost of the room is well within anyone's budget.

Our stay was so wonderful, that we added on a 7th day and still didn't want to leave. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The breakfast had a wide selection. I really cannot say anything detrimental about this hotel.

Wildwood Inn rocks!!

Don't be mislead by some reviews that obviously had a bad (rare) experience. The location of this hotel alone makes it one of the best places to stay in Gatlinburg.

When I called I asked several questions about the property, I was told there was gas fireplaces and operational, NOPE ! I was told there was a heated pool, NOPE, There was a Hot Breakfast NOPE! The Room was cold when I arrived VERY !!! No Heat On, The room was dirty ,hair in the tub and on the sink, the beds looked like they where 20 years old and slept worse, also had stains on the beds / box springs, the electronic doors kept having to be reprogramed, apperantly the maintenance person who let me in that night we came back said this was normal !!! WELL ... I would not recommend at all we moved out and went to another hotel, !!!

We stayed in room 208 from 12/5 - 12/7. The check in was quick and easy. The staff was very friendly. Our room was larger than most hotel rooms. Our family of four had plenty of room. We will stay at the Wildwood the next time we come up to visit Gatlinburg. Thanks Wildwood!!!!!
