I found the SMO thru the internet & then got regular updates from them via facebook before deciding to ever book a trip. We decided to take our first rafting trip, ever, during Labor Day weekend & reserved a 1:30 spot on that Saturday. We were driving from Townsend & it took us a little less than 2 hours to drive there (following our gps directions). We went out on time, if not earlier & Keith was our guide. It was my husband & myself & then another family of 4. I was very nervous & we got a speech on the bus ride over from a guide about how to handle ourselves if we got dumped into the water (which didn't help my nerves) -- once we arrived at the launching area, our guide (Keith) gave us instructions regarding how to paddle & what commands he would be giving us. Within the first few minutes of being in the water, we went thru a strong rapid & it was smooth "sailing" from there. We had a good team of people in our raft & we all paddled well together. We ended up having a great time & Keith was a great guide. He provided lots of information about the rapids & surrounding area & answered all our questions during the trip & was extremely personable & informative. I felt that we picked a good company for our first rapid trip (as we saw some other companies on the water - hot dogging & putting their customers in positions to possible flip their entire raft). I would recommend using this company & taking a trip on the upper rapids -- it's reasonably priced, as well.
