“clean rooms, friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

pros: excellent location
clean rooms
private balcony
budget room rates

cons: minor structrual issues (loose doorknob in bathrm; wobbly floor at entrance to one of our rooms)

We weren't as close to the back entrance to The Village as I anticipated. This wasn't a problem for me, but my MIL has mobility issues and I thought I was booking a room at a place where she was in easier access to The Strip.

Overall, I would stay here again, but if money were no object, I would stay somewhere newer.

Stayed just before Labor Day and found the accomodations to be VERY satisfactory !!! And the PRICE WONDERFUL !!!! Sure the rooms were a tiny bit outdated and the bathroom worn, but still it was clean and bug free ! Nothing serious! Nothing to stop us from staying again and again. The lady at the desk was very polite and courteous. Helped us out as much as we needed. The only downside was the non customer parking. There is a gravel spot away from the building that I think should be dedicated just for day parkers. only 1 day did we have a problem with a couple of day-parkers in front of our building and door, but we just moved the car closer at the end of the day. After reading reviews of MUCH more expensive places...I am GLAD we chose Johnsons !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: As much as I don't want competition with our favorite room but, chose a room over the creek. Its...

For the price we paid and the location, this place was ok. When we arrived, the lady in the office was very friendly and nice. When we go to our room, there was literally a pile of leaves to the right of the door. When I walked into the bathroom, there was hair on the floor, a hair stuck to the shower head...and these hairs were still there after the cleaning people had been in the room two days. I really hope that Johnson's Inn will listen to the previous reviews about the cleaning service and start using another company because if it hadn't been for that we really would have felt at home in the room.

We could hear the people in the bathroom next to ours peeing, and when they flushed the toilet, ours gurgled. Also, the wifi didn't work the entire time we were there.

The good thing about this place is that it's close to town, you can walk to everything, and the price to stay is affordable.

Key would not work 2nd night of stay. Called Police who found someone after calling the two so called "emergency phone numbers" to let us in room. Room had not been serviced after we had put the sign request on the door. Was told by a cleaning lady at 4 pm she had 18 rooms to do and just had not had time. At midnight it still had not been serviced! Lady that let us in room brought us towels and washcloths after I pointed out we had none. After she leaves we then discover we have ZERO toilet tissue nor Kleenex. Coffee pot had clogged up earlier and ran over and onto counter. Bathtub had major dirt and scum in it. Carpet was dirty. I have paid a lot less for much nicer hotel rooms in the past. I understand there are new owners. Obviously they know nothing about running a motel nor taking responsibility for the problems we had. The lady that let us in was the one that checked us in. She never apologized for anything. Blamed me and my cell phone for causing the key not to work. Blamed us for room not being cleaned after we were gone all day until 4 PM. Ready to get out of here for sure! Live and learn!

We went to the Smoky Mountains for a weekend getaway, and were looking for a place to stay in Gatlinburg. Since we booked late, the whole town was almost booked, but Johnson's Inn had a cancellation, so we were able to stay here. This hotel was a nice little place to stay and to sleep. Our room was clean and everything works well. No microwave but the fridge works. No breakfast, but it's satisfying for the price we paid. It is a great location, and it's within walking distance to the street where everything is. It's also within good driving distance to a few Smoky Mountain trails.

The place we normally stay was booked. We had seen this place and called to find they still had a room. friendly staff and great location. The rooms need a bit of attention and a little detail to cleaning, would stay again but would not be my first choice.

We have stayed at Johnson's Inn for 3 year now and have always loved it! It's inexpensive and just a little outdated but always clean! The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Walking distance to everything!!!!!! Just park the car!!!!
We enjoy walking to " The Village".... You gotta visit the "The Donut Friar". Totally awesome donuts and Coffee! And we tried the "Pancake Pantry" this time ...Loved it! All walking distance from Johnson's Inn.
