“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

We stay here because it is clean and close to Gatlinburg. The one thing that I really don't like is the 2 week cancellation notice. Pretty gutless policy considering they usually keep the rooms full every night. Will not stay again because of this. Sounds like some pretty greedy owners.

We stayed two nights at the Jack Huff Motor Lodge. We generally stay in our travel trailer or a cabin when we visit the Smokies, but we were in town for only a day and a half for the Auburn vs. Tennessee football game. My husband and son were going to the game and my daughter and I were planning to hang out in Gatlinburg, without a car. Proximity to food and fun were important to us. Jack Huff's Motor Lodge ticked off all our boxes for this trip. We were directly behind The Village and it was a short easy walk to the Donut Friar. In fact, we walked all the way up the strip out of Gatlinburg and took our photo with the National Park sign. We were also close to the aquarium. Our room was spacious enough to inflate a blow up mattress for our daughter and still have plenty of room for our bags and to walk around. The room was CLEAN and quiet, the water was hot, the beds were firm (and no sign of ANY bugs), and the office personnel and the ladies who cleaned the room were super friendly. If I had to find something to suggest to management, I would suggest they invest in some new bath towels and bear proof garbage cans outside. Upon our arrival, we heard a loud noise in the parking lot near our room and encountered a large black bear going through the trash. We would stay here again and our daughter is already considering a spring break trip there in March with her roommates.

We were to stay 3 nights at Jack Huff's this week. When we arrived the front desk was very cordial. After the second night my wife had bites all over her body when she got out of bed. We decided to leave the motel the morning of the third day. When we checked out, the front desk person asked why we leaving early and I told him that we had experienced what looked like bed bug bites. He said that the motel paid extra to put special covers on the mattress to make sure this did not happen. We still wound up paying the full amount for the room, which to me does not seem right due to the way my wife was upset and that we had to take special precautions when we got home so that our home did not get infected. The room looked spotless when we arrived, so it just shows you that you never know what your are going to encounter.

The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Clean large rooms and very comfortable beds coupled with a great location made this a perfect place for us to stay. Highly recommend this property.

As with most places around the Smoky Mountains, don't be surprised if you open your door and see a bear nearby. We didn't see any bears in the park, but saw two within two blocks of the motel. A female and her three cubs were hanging around at the motel next to the vending machines one afternoon. As lovable as these bear are, keep as far away as you possibly can, especially if cubs are around. These bears can sprint very fast and no human can outrun them. Admire them, but be safe and never, ever feed them.

It is not fancy, it is not unique, but this place is really nice place to be in. Very nice people in the front desk office, very clean rooms ( quiet big with great flat HDTV). The beds was a bit hard for me but it was ok. Parking - just I front of the elevator. Very close to the Main Street of the city (so the hotels free parking will be worth). The only minus was the lack of any kind of breakfast. Still this is a great place to stay in.

Just got home from another weeks great stay, we could not have been more pleased, hope to be back this time next year! The rooms are so clean, just a half block from Village, so easy to run up Roaring Forks at daylight and late in day. We walk downtown to our favorite restaurants and feel safe.

Room Tip: 201-on the end-large room, bet they are all just as great.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND ALL THE POSITIVE REVIEWS I SAW BEFORE WE TOOK THIS TRIP!
This hotel is nice enough, but I don't feel it deserves the five-star rating I saw online.

First, let me say that these are the nicest peple you'll meet anywhere at a hotel, especially Brenda in the front office. Talk to Brenda when you call.

They tout that they "are close to everything!" This is why I booked this hotel. If you think a 6-8 block hike is "close to everything", you are in better shape than I am.

The room was nice and adequate, SPOTLESS, CLEAN! There was no coffee pot or coffee altho there was a small frig and microwave. The front office had no breakfast, only coffee, which is unheard of at these prices where I come from.

I do not think this hotel was worth the price (about $120 with taxes) and we could have cut that in half by staying much further out, maybe Seireville. As it was, because we'd booked this hotel for the location and would not walk the extra blocks to see anything, we feel we were duped. Don't believe it's close to "everything" unless you want to fight the crowds and get tired walking (at this time of year).

We have not been to Gatlinburg for about 20 years and were SO disappointed to see this huge menangerie of rip-off shops packed door-to-door! It was Las Vegas with trees! Pigeon Forge is as bad. We were headed to the Smokies and Blue Ridge Parkway and there was nothing in Gatlinburg we wanted to see!

Room Tip: Just don't stay here!
