“Still the best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

Stayed for seven nights in late July and it had been 9 yrs since our last stay here. Even though, owners have changed, we found Kingwood Inn just as comfy and welcoming as our last stay.

Yes, its older and outdated, but its clean, clean, clean! The location cannot be beat. Easy walk to everything on the strip.

Enjoyed the pool. Water was very clean and was nice to have a deep end that was over 5 ft. deep.
We will definitely stay here another time. Kudos to Mary and the whole staff.

My husband and I went down to Gatlingburg on a spur of the moment kind of thing. It was late and it had started to snow on the way down. We had no trouble getting a room at the Kingwood Inn however. Very nice and clean. WSe will definitely go back.

Okay, so here is the deal with this hotel, it is old, it is very old. If you are looking for something shiny and new, keep moving. The beds, yeah, they are at the end of their lifespan and I really do hope they decide to do something about it soon. Yes, the shower head is mounted very low as a couple of posters have commented but, the water pressure is good, the water is hot, and it's almost one of those things you just have to laugh at. Okay, if you are extremely tall, maybe in the 6.5 foot range you might not laugh. The rooms are outdated, extremely, but they are clean. There was a small fridge and microwave in the room and outside on the deck there were approx 8 gas grills for cooking. The pool was very nice and larger than some we saw at newer and larger properties. I'm not saying olympic size, but nice sized. The property was 3 blocks from the strip which was great. The owners, although a little different seem to be hardworking and very nice. There is a little breakfast area in the mornings by the office. It's not much, but for the price of the hotel, you cannot complain. Our walk in rate was 60 bucks a night plus tax. This is a great place for families that would rather spend their money on attractions and sightseeing instead of somewhere just to sleep. All in all, I would recommend it as long you have the right expectations. This was a last minute end of summer trip that was spread out across 3 states and we were watching our money closely so this was perfect for us although, 2 nights on those beds was about I wanted to handle. If the most important thing to you is that it's clean and there are no bugs then I say stay, just don't expect the Ritz, or anything close to it.

This motel was a comp for looking at a condo. We stayed here for 3 nights.
"The Good"
This for me is the perfect location in Gatlinburg. Especially if you have teenagers. It is only a couple of blocks from the main part of town. So it is close enough to walk to the strip but just far enough that you can't hear the noise from the strip. Our room was big and clean. It had everything that we needed. We never ran out of hot water no matter what time we showered which is unusual for an older motel. The pool is a good size and was very clean. The family that owns and operate the Kingwood are very nice and went out of their way to make us happy.
"The Bad"
This motel is in desperate need of a complete interior renovation. And it also needs a lot of exterior structural repair. The beds in our room were big but the mattresses were worn out. Every faucet handle turns on and off a different way. The shower nozzle was so low that I had to shower on my knees and I am not a giant.
This is not the Hyatt Regency by any means. But it is friendly, clean and has everything that you need in a great location.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this inn is. It is older, but everything was very clean and the staff is great. The bed was very comfortable. It is several blocks from the strip so it is away from the traffic but it is an easy walk. I would definitely recommend this inn.

We have stayed at the Kingwood Inn for 3 years straight now.We go down every July for a couple weeks. We love it their. The rooms are clean and furnished great. The pool is always sparkling clean. Mary and here son Jay run and own the place, they make you feel like family while you are their. They have a breakfast room that always has fresh brewed coffee every morning waiting for you along with cereal and breakfast snacks. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay while in Gatlinburg. Just minutes from the strip, not to mention the prices you can't beat them anywhere. I highly recommend this place to anyone going to Gatlingurg .
