“Nice and accomodating in an emergency”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Recently while on a family vacation to Gatlinburg we experienced what eveyone dreads. Car troubles.
The vacation started and went very well and we enjoyed taking in all the local attractions, shows and wonderful places to eat in Sevier County. We had stayed at a local resort with friends adjacent to us who owns a timeshare on the "spur" between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

The day we left we headed towards Pigeon Forge when our vehicle suddenly decided it really liked only going 25mph down hill with a 24mph tail wind. Being on the busy spur we opted to limp it into Pigeon forge and get a tow from there to the dealer for warranty repairs on this fairly new vehicle.

An extremely long story made short, the tow company from Pigeon Forge continually lied about a time frame for the hook until a point at which the closest KIA dealer had closed for the weekend (it was a Saturday) as well as the car rental places. Refusing a tow after 3 hours of waiting and being told they could still tow us to Knoxville and drop us off in a vacated dealers parking lot for two days until they opened, we opted to limp the vehicle back to Gatlinburg and find a place to stay until Monday when we were told we would be picked up for sure for repairs.

Although being the 4th of July weekend we thought we'd try Olde Gatlinburg Place where we had stayed before on other vacations but felt they would be full up. As luck would have it they did have some vacancies but not have what we first wanted. After some crafty work the nice lady was able to secure exactly the type of room we wanted.

And, just as we remembered other rooms being there, the two bedroom was very nice and now I'm positive all room are pretty much the same. This suite, just like previous ones we've stayed in, was very nice and clean. The complex is well maintained and also has ample parking.

This complex is very close to the "strip" in Gatlinburg as it is only a short walk away but yet far enough away to be quite and cozy if that is what you want for a while. The outdoor pool is a medium size but kept very clean as is the spacious hot tub.

The lady we checked in with was more than helpful and understood our plite. We learned our lesson. We'll not stay in the same resort on the "spur" on future annual vacations with these friends. We'll return every year to Olde Gatlinburg Place instead and let our friends meet us there to go do something. We definetly will return here and advise everyone to check here first when making plans for an affordable vacationing spot.

Room Tip: Ask for Shauna when you call. She will more than helpful and very accommodating.

This place was a good deal, since there was a kitchen and living room separate from the bedroom, but we asked for a non smoking room and the room smelled like smoke. Rooms opened to overlook pool, had a great view on the upper levels.

Each condo is owned individually (some 1 BR's/ some 2 BR's- do not get a studio because there's no balcony or window view), so many are stuck in the 80's with mauve, hunter green, flowered wall paper & border, but others have been updated. Ask for a recently renovated condo when booking! The walk down is only 3 blocks to the Parkway at light #6 & there's a short cut thru the Villages (many cute shops) located on the left side of Cherokee Orchard Rd. that will bring you out to the Parkway by the Pancake Pantry (fabulous!).

This time we stayed in condo #407, which was updated including new cabinets in the kitchen & baths. Not our favorite, but the beds were extremely comfortable for all 3 members of our family, which is unusual. The balcony view was fine, except for overlooking the next motel which for some reason has patched the entire length of their roof using mismatched shingles (red-brown, tan, & hunter green). Really? This motel has been there forever, so what are they doing with the money that make off of all us tourists?

The balcony itself was a cave because it had solid cement walls, not iron railings like most of the others. Plus the air conditioner for the Master BR vented out on the balcony which made it like a furnace. In order to see over the balcony they've placed 3 bar stools (with back rests), but there's also 2 newer metal chairs & small coffee table (patio furniture). We had to turn off the a/c in order to sit out on the balcony though. And the indoor/outdoor carpet should be ripped out.

When we arrived at 6pm, the office was closed (?) & an envelope with our name was taped to the front door (as was another late check-ins envelope, too). It included instructions to get our key out of their mailbox and there was an after hours emergency number to call, too. This would never have happened in a big city! We settled our bill the next morning when we woke up & the front desk man was very friendly.

The Wifi was slow many times & sometimes not available at all. Give it a few minutes & try again. All in all it's an inexpensive place for those who need more rom than a hotel can offer. But the other owners need to update their condos! We'll stay here again because it's inexpensive.

Room Tip: Updated rooms are: 501, 412, 512, 712, 407, & 510 (our favorite- 1BR which was renovated lodge s...

We were a little worried after reading some of the reviews on here but, room #512 was nice. The room was clean and was well decorated (with mostly new furniture). The owners offer a personal touch by leaving a photo album of things to do and recommendations which was very helpful. It is close to everything and within walking distance of the aquarium and the main shopping areas of Gatlinburg. Highly Recommended!!

I was a little worried after some of the reviews I had read but I was pleasantly surprised by our room #504. It was very clean and tastefully decorated. The bed had a 3 inch foam on the mattress which made it very comfortable. The carpet was clean and the floor in kitchen and bathroom was clean. There were a couple of minor cosmetic things in the room but i didn't pay for a room in the Hilton. Check in was very quick . Everything was ready and I was in and out of the office in less than 5 minutes with the keys in hand. The only things bad at all was that my daughter had wanted me to find a place with a hot tub and when I booked the room it said they had a hot tub, which they did but it was covered for the winter. My remote in the bedroom didnt work which i assume it was the batteries. My kids wanted to use their IPODs but we didn't know the code for the WI-FI and both times I went to the office they were closed. So make sure if something doesn't work that you go to the office before they close for the night. This place is in a very good location and off of the main street so it is quiet.

We are thrilled that we got a remodeled room. After reading the reviews I was a little worried about what we would get. This is completely remodeled and very nice on the inside. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay.

Very clean room. Nice amenities. Gas fireplace was terrific the view from the private balcony is awesome. This is not a brand-new facility, but the flooring (Pergo-type) and furniture were very updated and comfy. I can't speak for other rooms, but the shared facilities were in very nice condition. Staff at front desk made a terrific dinner recommendation (Blaine's) for an awesome and reasonable burger. I would select this place again and would request room 706. Location in Gatlinburg was unbeatable, it was about 1 block from the main strip and aquarium.
