“Quiet Side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

My husband and I spent two nights. Our room was a king size room with 2 person whirlpool tub, fireplace, & a balcony overlooking the creek. The room was an average hotel room, but it was clean and we did enjoy the balcony to relax on, however you could not turn out the balcony light (which was a little annoying). The bathroom is very very very small and there was not a closet. We felt a little uneasy just leaving our bags out while we were gone. The beds slept well.

The hotel is nice. They do offer a continental breakfast, but we were not impressed so we ventured out for breakfast. The elevators are extremely slow. The pool area is nice, but the actual pool is small and the other pool area with tubes is also small. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. The staff is the reason I gave this hotel a 4.

The hotel is on the end of Gatlinburg towards the park. The plus to this is: It is the quieter end & the con to this is: it is a long walk up and down the Gatlinburg strip especially if you make any purchases while you are out.

Room Tip: Take a good pair of shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking and go find a good place for br...

My husband and I spent two nights here with our 2 y/o son in late Aug. The room was very spacious with a comfy chair and ottoman as a bonus. We would have loved to try out the fireplace if the weather was cooler! The best part of the hotel was the outdoor heated pool and lazy river. Incredibly relaxing!! My only knock would be that the pool and river are small so I can imagine how crowded it would be during a peak time. We were lucky enough to be there when most kids are back in school so it wasn't an issue for us. I also liked the location, just a block away from the Gatlinburg Trail that leads into the national park. It's also a convenient walk to many great shops and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again, especially in the off-season it was such a great value!

My mom and I stayed here last year for three nights in October to celebrate our birthdays! We discovered it was the perfect place to celebrate! We were part of a bus tour visiting the area from Pennsylvania. It is a great family hotel. It was the perfect spot for a mountain retreat and located just outside the Smoky Mountain National Park. It was such a charming place to stay and we loved it! We had a beautiful gas fireplace in the room that added that perfect feel of early fall to our adventure and the Smoky Mountains surrounded us. The air was so fresh. Our room opened to an outdoor patio with two chairs and faced a peaceful creek that ran beside it. It was just a beautiful setting. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. It had just the right rustic feel to make it authentic. The outside of the hotel had beautiful flowers all around. It was just a fabulous hotel with a friendly staff and breakfast was included each day. The staff pointed out restaurants and sights to include during our free time. The hotel is perfectly located and within walking distance to the National Park, restaurants, and stores. We ate in the Grill across the street from the hotel and on the main street in town the first night and enjoyed it very much. The food was excellent and they had a piano player entertaining while you ate. They have all kinds of restaurants with different price ranges within walking distance. We enjoyed TGIFridays another night for a late evening snack. Be sure to enjoy the village of Gatlinburg, DollyWorld, and see the Dixie Stampede while you are visiting. There are so many things to see and do while you are here! Try a little Moonshine, too, for fun! We would highly recommend The Bearskin Lodge! The only thing we missed seeing was a bear running down the street as the people experienced this past week in town. Five Stars for the Bearskin Lodge!

Room Tip: We had a room toward the back of the hotel which was quiet and looked out onto the beautiful creek...

Wow! Thank you for sharing your experience with us and with potential new guests! Great advice too! We recommend trying the moonshine by the way. It's just part of our history, right? Next time you are in the Smokies, we would love to have you as our guest again! Until then, safe travels and we'll try to arrange for a bear visit next time.

We found check in to be quick and easy. But, the desk clerks were busy checking in customers and answering the phones at the same time. And yes there were warm cookies in the lobby.
The room is what we expected for two queen beds. Extras we were not expecting was a gas fireplace and a large overstuffed leather chair.
The creek view was just what others have stated. At the fourth floor most of the creek is obscured by trees growing out of it. But you have a great view of the abandoned Family Inn on the other side. In my view, creek side rooms are not worth it.
Breakfast is worth it. We arrived for breakfast between 7:00 and 7:30 each morning and the 9 tables were never all full. We really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy.
We had maid service all 3 days we were there. The bed was made, towels changed out and the room straightened up each day.
The location off the strip was convenient to downtown and a short drive to the park.
We enjoyed our stay at the Bearskin Lodge. I would stay again, but not creek side.

My husband and I have traveled all over the world and have stayed in all kinds of accomodations. We loved Beakskin Lodge because it was clean, decorated in a pleasing bear decor perfect for the area, had a balcony with a view and sounds of the river that were so soothing. The room looked like the pictures on the internet so it was not disappointing. We loved the spacious spa in our room. The bed and linens were comfortable. Yes, the pool was tiny, but who cares, we were not there just to go swimming. It did have an adorable lazy river that even as grownups was enjoyable. Parking was convenient and the lodge was in a great location which was close to almost everything making it possible to walk to restaurants and other attractions. The staff was friendliy and accommodating. The price was very fair. When we go to Gatlinburg, we will definitely stay there again!

We very much appreciate you taking time to give us some positive feedback. It is our goal for each guest to leave happy, and knowing we reached that goal is fantastic! We love where we live and work in the Smoky Mountains! Having our visitors enjoy the beauty of our hotel and the area is even better and more rewarding! Have a great Fall...and come back soon!

My wife and I stayed here for an anniversary trip. We wanted a place in town this time to reduce driving and parking hassles. This hotel fit the bill perfectly for our purposes. It is an easy enough walk to all the restaurants and bars that we frequented. That way we never worried about how much drinking we did, since we could easily stumble back. It is still far enough away from the main drag to be fairly quiet though. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable. The staff was hit and miss, but overall pretty friendly. Housekeeping was also hit and miss, but we're not that picky so not a big deal for us. The front sitting area was nice for chilling out morning and evening in the comfy rockers. The only real downside would be the closed down Family Inn across the creek. We joked that you could probably film a horror movie in it. In retrospect we would have saved the 5 bucks a night and stayed on the town side. Other than that it was a good overall value. Sure the Hilton Garden Inn just down the street is a bit nicer, but its $120 a night, so again we got what we think is a good value. If our budget is the same on our next visit-we'll be back!
