I think this place is overrated. The tram ride is good for the view but not cheap. You can also drive up the mtn rd that is not a bad drive but you have to pay $5 a car. before you get to Ober.
I didn't think that was fair, just a guard in the middle of the rd holding out his hand with a sign. We did eat at one of the places upstairs, hamburgers and fries. They were quite large and good. Won't go back.

“Non-winter visit for Oktoberfest was average.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Saw brochures about Oktoberfest and was excited to visit. Our visit was a bit ho-hum with some bright spots.

Bright spots: the Sky Lift and Alpine Slid. Alpine slide was a blast! Lunch and German music in the restaurant was fun and tasty.

Low spots: very little German beer selection. No other Oktoberfest activities going on. Pop music playing in the tavern during Oktoberfest.

“Pricey but the alpine slide is cool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

If you buy single rides it gets pricey really quick which is all we had time for. My 3 and 5 year old girls loved the Alpine slide. It seemed like if you got the day pass the kids could stay busy for quite some time so there may be more value in that.

“Ober is Overrated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Once you reach Ober Gatlinburg, the costs are high, and not much to do. I am sure the ski portion in the winter is nice, but warmer weather activities are overpriced and not worth the trip. We did the alpine slide, which was ok, but requires you to take what seems like an unsafe ski lift up the mountain, for a short slide down that cost (if I recall correctly) $6 per one trip. We also did the maze, which was ok. We thought the Octoberfest would be neat, but there really wasn't much to see or do for that.

“Three year old had fun!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

This was literally around the corner from our cabin, so we went to check it out. Not much to do that didn't cost quite a bit. Our son wanted to ride the kiddie rides, so we paid $7 for two tickets for one ride. However, they stamped his hand, so he got unlimited kiddie rides for the rest of our stay! He had a BALL! We had fun watching him, at least.
