“Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

Don't be fooled, while this may look like a general store on the outside, they make some of the best sandwiches on the inside!!! I got the Fried Green Tomatoes BLT and it was heavenly! My boyfriend got the philly cheese and it was FULL of flavor!!! Great spot for a quick bite! Wish we would have found it sooner on our trip to try more!

“Great sandwiches for breakfast and dry pack for hikers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

We came to Old Dad's for a pre-hike breakfast and enjoyed a freshly made bacon, egg and ham on wheat at their deli. They dry packed Club sandwiches for our day hike to the Leconte Lodge; we enjoyed the packing and the sandwiches when we reached the Lodge. Found a neat Allis Chalmers / Milwaukee, WI tractor sign to purchase for my dad; he loved it. This would have been an excellent review were it not for the high deli prices. Friendly staff, excellent deli, neat general store.

“Great little sandwich shop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

We stopped in for a quick lunch between Park activities. The gentleman taking orders was very helpful in letting us know the sandwiches were big so my husband and I split a club sandwich and it was more than enough. Our daughter got a cheeseburger, son got grilled cheese then onion rings and homemade chips. Great service. Great food, quick and reasonable priced.

“Take a different approach to breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

We stopped in to get some items to take to the motel. It's like an old fashioned country store and is located on the far south side of Gatlinburg. We went back the next day for breakfast. The guy was extremely kind and generously offered our little one a free biscuit.

“Great place to pick up a sandwich when heading into the park for the day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

Very good sandwiches. I had a fried green tomato BLT. Really good bread, which for me is a critical component in a good sandwich.

One nice thing is that there is some parking in a small lot in front of the store so you can stop by here, run in and grab some lunch in the morning, and then eat it while hiking in the park.

This is a small store, so you can also pick up some other supplies. I don't remember if they have any seating inside - to be honest, we only went in knowing we were getting sandwiches to go.

Your expectations have to be pretty low for any food you find in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Maybe it's the tourist crowd, and maybe folks expectations are universally low, but it's mainly crap fast food chains - an exception being the Pancake Pantry, this place, and a few other small restaurants in town (we tried a few). Old Dad's was good for what it is - a place to grab a decent sandwich (infinitely better that something like Subway certainly).
