my husband and i bought into westgate smokey mountain before the first model was built. we felt we had a good deal. we were told we could vacation at any of their resorts at no extra charge. was told if you like the beach buy here and save on maintenance fees, they are higher on the beach due to storms. well the first two years our maintenence fees were 315.00 then mysterioulsy went to 525.00. we booked a week in florida cost 130.00 extra, we booked somewhere other than where we bought. we just booked branson and it now cost 130.00 to book somewhere other than you bought. so we have given these people 655.00 this year alone to use a timeshare we paid thousands for five or six years ago and we could have stayed just about anywhere in branson or florida for what we have paid westgate. i called about booking a week in myrtle beach next year, first was told they would only book for those who bought in m yrtle beach for a year and then was told on second call they only took reservations up to eleven months. i am willing to bet if i call immediately eleven months prior to my wanting to use what i supposedly own they will be full. we had a wedding at smokies one year, had the two units reserved so the family could all be together, we showed up and were all put in different buildings. we had reservations for 8 months at westgate lakes, flew down arrived only to find about fifty folks in front of us and including us all had the two bedroom units reserved ,they had none!!! once again our family was seperated. if i had it to do over again, you got we would tell them where to get off.
