Gatlinburg Town Square Resort

We booked a week through RCI as a time share and expected it to be of the same quality as others we stayed at. It is not. I am writing this from the resort.
The "room", a studio, is tacky. This isn't like others we have seen.
The kitchen - pots wobble, oven burns, sink leaks.
Pool - no chairs, one umbrella, plain cement.
View - street and electric wires.
Bed is three inches from the air conditioner unit - stiff neck anyone?
The cost for the Internet, which doen't always work, is high considering all the places around here advertise free wifi.
There are three parts to the "resort" - the main one and then two that are up the city streeet. Guess where I am.
Oh, they also will give you a :$25 gift certificate to use at Friday's, Cracker Barrel...". The card cannot be used at a restaurant. You have to go online for the certificate. Those restaurants are not included and you need to print the certififcate. On what printer? Mary forgot to mention that.

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Gatlinburg and stayed at the Gatlinburg Town Square. Our unit was a studio unit, and these are only suitable for 2 people in my opinion. They are small, but do include a refrigerator, a microwave and a sink which is nice. There would be sleeping for 4 but I wouldn't be comfortable with it because the unit simply isn't large enough. The unit was fairly clean - keeping in mind that the property is not brand new, so some of the room decor is a bit outdated. There were some minor things wrong in the unit but nothing of major significance. The property itself was just okay - I didn't think the exterior was as nice as it could have been. It wasn't as clean and well manicured as others that I saw. The worse part of the experience was the parking. We have a Camry and we had a terrible time parking in the garage underneath. If you have a larger vehicle, I would recommend going someplace else. We could hardly get into the parking garage - the opening is extremely narrow - and once inside had a hard time either finding a place or deciding on which absolutely tiny space we wanted to park our car in! There is almost no way to get out of your car without bumping into your neighbor! One evening when we returned, there were NO parking places underneath or in the few available on top, and we had to park down the street in the 'overflow' lot outside the registration office, which by the way, is not located in front of the property, it is down a block or so on the left side of the street. Not a place I wanted to park my car!
There was quite a bit of noise - mostly because of the families and their children at the pool or the basketball court - but that didn't bother us. We have grown children and we remember how exciting vacation was for our kids. We took our kids to Gatlinburg years ago and it has changed immensely! The location of this property is pretty good if you want to be 'in the heart' of the action. There are a lot of restaurants in the area you can walk to. If you don't like cramped spaces, this area is not for you. There is a lot of traffic and it is a very busy place. If you want a place with lots of things for kids to do (that cost $$$) and you like to visit a lot of small shops (t-shirt, purses, Christmas) you'll love Gatlinburg. If you don't like that, definitely visit the arts and crafts community - it is a gem of a place that offers several single shops where the owners are many times the very talented artists who are friendly and willing to share their 'craft' with you. Try the Wild Plum restaurant. It is kind of a 'tea room' - but my husband was comfortable sitting outside. And, of course the mountains are so beautiful and the park has no entrance fee! Overall, I think the Gatlinburg Town Square deserves what others have given it - about a 3-1/2 on a 5 pt. scale.

We came just before Christmas and we had a great time. We enjoyed Ober Gatlinburg as well as Christmas shopping at Tanger. The crowds were difficult at night but daytime was fine. Our room was comfortable. There were four people in our party and a fifth joined us for one evening. We had plenty of space. Being on the outskirts of town we were close to the restaurants and attractions but skipped out on the noise. The room was a little old but was clean and everything worked properly. Our balcony had a great view of mountains too.

“Our stay was GREAT!!!!!”

Gatlinburg Town Square Resort

We just got back from our trip to Tennessee and we stayed at the GTS for a week. Our stay was wonderful! We have our 4 kids with us and we all slept VERY comfortably. THe unit was fairly new and had nice leather furniture and nice tiled floors. The bathroom was HUGE and their was a jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom. The bed was a KING sized bed and it was VERY comfortable. The kitchen was VERY well equipped and had everything and anything I would need. I made all 3 meals for our family of 6 each and every day and I had everything I would ever need!

We have exchanged our timeshare week a lot and this is definitely one of the nicer places we have stayed.

The location is excellent and it is just a short walk to downtown but yet it is out of the way enough to be somewhat private.

The inside pool was AWESOME and my kids really enjoyed it. There was a big deep end for the older kids and a good sized low end for the younger ones. It was very warm and very clean. We went in each day and the kids loved it!

It was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it!

“Worst Place To Stay In Gatlinburg”

Don't waste your vacation at this place! We were put on the 1st floor in phase 2 our units overlooked the parking lot in the front and the smoking area at the hotel next door in the back. In one of our units they even parked a huge camper in front of our balcony so we had a great view of a dirty old camper. You felt like you were sleeping in the parking garage at night, it was so loud! I called to try and get my parents moved to another unit because they love to sit on the balcony. The manager was very RUDE and these people do not care if you are happy or not I work at an RCI resort in Myrtle Beach and I know they could have moved them if they wanted to. There is no place to put a suitcase in any of the rooms, the shower made such a loud squeeling sound we couldn't use it. Also there was a gutter beside our room that sounded like someone hitting a baseball bat the door. My parents own 4 timeshares and our family has stayed at many other resorts all over the US and this is without a doubt the worst! Do yourself a favor stay somewhere else! There are alot of GREAT places to stay in Gatlinburg, this isn't one of them, also you should not have to pay extra for internet service!! I guess they don't want you to post anything on this site.(See pictures posted of our VIEW)
