It's probably a little gauche to complain about the sides served at a barbecue restaurant because YOU'RE NOT THERE FOR THE SIDES; YOU'RE THERE FOR THE MEAT, EINSTEIN. Ok, fair enough, and the meat at the Hungry Bear is definitely delicioso! I had the pulled pork -- butter moist and wonderfully savory -- and the pork ribs, which so slow cooked that they actually were falling off the bone. Three sauces on the table -- sweet, mild, and hot -- all ably dressed the Q deliciously in a very Tennessee way. Wonderful barbecue! The sides, however, I'm not going to lie, were uneven. My cole slaw was good but the little container barely contained three forkfulls; the baked beans were pretty good but, again, came in a small portion; the corn on the cob was a major disappointment, not really even good enough to eat; the desserts looked like they were bought from somewhere else and not homemade. Any concerns I may have had about the sides, I will add, we're largely overwhelmed by my joy at finding a cold bottle of Cheerwine cherry soft drink, which perfectly complemented the dinner.
I'd definitely go back to the Hungry Bear for the meat but they need a new guy to work on the corn.
