I decided to rent a cabin in order to celebrate bringing in the new year After driving 6 hours, I couldn't hardly wait to get to my cabin and settle in. The photos of this cabin are very deceiving. The exterior of the cabin did not look as neat and clean as in the photo. The area in which the cabin was sitting was not very pleasing to the eye either. The cabin sits right next to a carpet store at a dead-end street. Across the street was a dumpster which was obviously full because of the remnants of old carpet, and other pieces of trash laying next to it. There was also a lot of debris such as leaves and twigs on the small plot of land, where the cabin was sitting on, on the roof and also in the gutters. When I walked in the door, I was very pleased with the way it looked on the inside briefly. It looked very neat and clean. The TV was already on when I arrived so I picked up the remote and turned it off. Once I was ready to relax by enjoying the fireplace and watching TV. I tried desperately to get the TV to work properly but was unable to due to the fact that I didn't know how to operate it and there were 3 different remotes in order to do so. I just kept getting "no internet service" on the screen after the several attempts that I made. There were no instructions whatsoever on how to operate the TV, cable box or dvd player. I could not operate the dvd player anyhow because there was no where to plug it into. There was only 1 plug located near the TV. It was on the floor and had all sorts of wires and cords tangled together coming from it. I was afraid to start messing with it because I could possibly mess them up or I didn't know which cord I should unplug in order to plug in the dvd player. One of the cords that was plugged in, was an extension cord, but it was full as well. I also tried using the fireplace and it would not work either. At appox 5 pm, I called the after hours phone number provided. I discussed the problems with the operator. She calls me back within minutes to inform me that they will be coming by tomorrow sometime to fix the problems. I felt this was unacceptable since I paid a little of $700. for 3 nights. Thankfully, they sent a maintenance man to come over to fix the problems. Later that evening as I was preparing my steak for dinner, I noticed there was no bakeware except 3 flat baking pans that were covered in old burnt-on grease. They were horrific looking. The drawer that they came out of was very dirty as well. I wanted to cook my steak inside a deep baking dish which would allow me to add other ingredients including a broth. The frying pan also had burnt on grease on it. There were no lids for the pans nor the plastic food containers, there is no knife set to where I can cut my steak nor chop anything up, and only a handful of cooking utensils. The dishtowel and dishcloth reeked of old grease. In the bathroom there was a web with several strings in which one was stretched from one side of the upper wall then to the light fixture then to the other side of the wall. It was approx. .3.5ft. in length. The cabinet below the sink was dirty so I had to wipe it down in order to put my toiletry bag in there. There was a tall shelf next to it which had some spots all over it and round circles where obviously some product bottles have been set there. The baseboard was nasty. It was covered with hair, dust bunnies and etc. The shower had mildew in it. All through-out the house the base boards were extremely dirty. In the living area, the coffee table was wobbly. In the same space, out of all the 4 plugs, I was only able to use just one. You can not plug up anything in the others unless it is a regular size head of cord. The plugs are not flush against the floor. I wanted to sit on the sofa and do some computer work but couldn't because the head of my cord is not shaped the same as a regular cord. The same goes with my phone charger and other electronics. I had to charge my computer in a wall unit first then unplug it in order to sit on the sofa with my computer. I assume since they left a little bit of dishwashing liquid, floor cleaner, and dishwasher dish cleaner, they would also provide something to clean out the whirlpool tub and some cleaning rags so I would not have to resort to using the provided bath cloths to clean it. In the bedroom, the closet which is already small has a huge rolled up piece of carpet in it which takes up a quarter of the limited space. The quilt and the shams did not look or smell clean. The mattress appeared old, and it was very uncomfortable.
I own some rental property and my family owns several vacation homes that they rent out. That being said, I don't feel this property meet the standards when it comes to accommodating individuals wanting to come here and relax. I will not let this be a reflection of the company that rents out the cabin. The staff was very nice and hospitable. I am sure they have no idea of these issues with the cabin. If I had to do it all over again, I would not. I now wish that I would have stayed in a hotel room instead. I feel that as much as money they are charging for this cabin, It should present itself a lot better. I will never stay in this particular cabin again nor one that the person or persons who owns this one.
