“Unique Coffee Blends for the true Coffee Connoisseur”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2011

If you love coffeee and enjoy trying different and unique blends this is the place for you.
Some of my favorites are Pride of the Smokies, Snicker-Doodle Cookie, Black Bear Blend and Le Conte View. They have many more to try and I haven't tried one yet that I didn't like. Also, just a nice place to grab a cup of coffee and sit and people watch while you take a break from the days activities in The Village.

“Best coffee, atmosphere, and friendliness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

Coffee and Company had a flavorful "coffee of the day" plus other flavors fresh and ready for the morning taste. The owner Jeanette Peterson was friendly and cheerful as she readily described her coffee and greeted each person. We would highly recommend this and her downtown shop for the perfect cup.

“Uber friendly service and awesome coffee!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2011 via mobile

we were here for 1 week. several members of my family including my wife and I visited here several times, and after the first visit we were hooked on the muffins and gourmet coffee. also, we are used to dunking donuts and starbucks on every corner in Massachusetts, but this place reminds me to give the independent coffee shops my business...the coffee is so much better!!!

“POOR customer service. Unusual atmosphere for a coffee shop.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2011

My husband and I decided we wanted to try the flavored coffees at Coffee & Company on our next trip to Gatlinburg. We thought we might grab a donut from the Donut Friar and a cup of flavored coffee from Coffee & Company in the Village for breakfast. Once we arrived, we looked in the corner of Pin Oak Plaza (in the Village) where Coffee & Company used to be. From a distance we didn't see it. Instead there was a NEW place called Paradise An Oasis in the same spot. It was not open when we went (before 10am), so we figured it could NOT be a coffee shop. At first we were a little disappointed that we didn't get to try Coffee & Company in the Village, but then decided we would to drive out to their other location on 321 (Coffee & Company at the Cottage) the next day for our morning coffee instead.

Once at Coffee & Company at the Cottage, we parked in the small parking lot. Here we walked up the building & went inside. Once inside, I was a little confused. It looked more like a boutique shop instead of a coffee shop. I was expecting to see lots of bags of ground coffee, coffee beans, coffee mugs and perhaps a coffee counter. But, instead we saw a few small racks with bagged coffee and a small bakery case that held a few baked goods. The inside had an unusual collection of items for sale. It just not what we were expecting. I did notice a few small rooms off of the main room while we waited. They also appeared to be filled with items for sale that were not coffee related.

Once we got waited on, we asked about purchasing some flavored coffee by the cup. Immediately, we were told that they don't sell cups of flavored coffees at the Cottage. The lady told us that she doesn't sell enough cups of flavored coffee here for her to brew a whole pot. She said it would be wasteful. Instead she instructed us to go to their other location in the Village. She said that location sells the flavored coffee by the cup since they sell more coffee by the cup there. We asked her where it was since we had already looked in the Village (the day before) where it had been previous years. She looked at us like we were half crazy & then informed us that it was STILL in the Village. She then proceeded to tell us that they had changed the name of their downtown location to Paradise an Oasis. Her explanation for this was that it was them "just being kooky".

Ok, so we turn around and drive back downtown to the Village to get our morning cup of coffee from Paradise An Oasis (Coffee & Company) per the instructions of the lady at Coffee & Company at the Cottage. Once we arrived at the Village, we discovered that Paradise An Oasis was NOT even open yet! This was very frustrating. How can you send a customer to another location when you know it is NOT even open?? She could have informed us of the hours before sending us there instead of wasting our time.

Overall, I would say that we were disappointed in the customer service provided by the employee at Coffee & Company at the Cottage. We were disappointed that we were unable to purchase flavored coffee by the cup here during the breakfast hours. We also did not appreciate our time being wasted. It really just comes down to poor customer service. Not only that, but we found the boutique shop to be a strange atmosphere for a coffee shop. I doubt we will return to that location after the experience that we had.

“Good Coffee in the Village. Nice selection of flavored coffee beans.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2011

My husband and I decided we wanted to try the flavored coffees at Coffee & Company on our next trip to Gatlinburg. We thought we might grab a donut from the Donut Friar and a cup of flavored coffee from Coffee & Company for breakfast. Once we arrived, we looked in the corner of Pin Oak Plaza (in the Village) where Coffee & Company used to be. From a distance we didn't see it. Instead there was a NEW place called Paradise An Oasis in the same spot. At first we were a little disappointed that we didn't get to try Coffee & Company, but then decided to drive out to their other location on 321, Coffee & Company at the Cottage.. Here we were told that they don't sell cups of flavored coffees at the Cottage. She said she doesn't sell enough cups of coffee there & instructed us to go to their other location in the Village. She said that locations sells the flavored coffee by the cup. She then informed us that they had changed the name of their downtown location to Paradise an Oasis.

So, back to the Village we went. Once at the Village, we tried to visit Paradise and Oasis (Coffee & Company), but that location was closed. So, we decided to try back another day. A few days later, we stopped by in the evening to try to get a cup of flavored coffee. Inside it is just a small shop that appeared clean & smelled heavenly of coffee beans. Inside, the clerk greeted us & asked us IF she could help us. We said we wanted to try some of the flavored coffees. She said that they did NOT have any brewed that evening. She said that they had not sold a cup all day. She said they will brew it as needed. So, we decided to purchase small trial sized bags of their flavored coffees ($1.99). The trial sized bags have enough beans in them to brew one full pot of coffee. So, we thought this was a good deal. We knew we wanted the Snickerdoodle and the Southern Pecan. Then we saw that they had a coffee called Blueberry Crumble. We asked the clerk whether it was unusual or good since it was a fruity coffee. She told it was actually one of her favorites. So we decided to go ahead and purchase a trail size of it as well. When the clerk was ringing us up she asked IF we needed our beans ground. This was nice & done for us quickly at no charge. Before we left, we did inquire about the hours since we had tried to come early for breakfast the other day & they were closed. The clerk informed us that they open around 9:30am or 10am depending on when they get there.

Once we got back home, we did try the Snickerdoodle coffee & found it to be delightful. It has a faint cinnamon taste to it. It reminds you of the snicker doodle cookie, but is not sweet or overpowering. We found it to be a good quality coffee with great taste.

Overall, we had a good experience with Paradise An Oasis (Coffee & Company) in the Village. The hours are strange for a coffee shop. I would expect them to be open early for the early risers in the morning, especially since the donut shop next door opens at 5am. Once we did get to visit Coffee & Company, the clerk at this location was fast & friendly. We appreciated her friendliness & that she ground our coffee for us at no charge. The prices were reasonable for the bagged trial sized coffee. I cannot comment on the price of a "cup of flavored coffee" since we were unable to make that kind of purchase. The actual coffee tastes good, even when brewed at home. We would recommend a visit to this location & will definitely purchase some more ground coffee next time we are in town.

Daisyferret1-
Thank you for your review of Paradise An Oasis by Coffee & Company. It looks as if you are not a stranger to Gatlinburg and had even read or heard about us in the past. Sorry for any confusion with the name change, we tried to put it in the description of our store, but apparently it is not very visible.
We are so glad that you were able to purchase some of our sample bags and enjoyed the coffee. When the clerk told you that we brew coffee as needed, that was a way of explaining that she would have been happy to brew you a pot of flavored if you desired. We have that philosophy with both of our locations as long as we are not "covered up" at the given time.

We realize that with The Donut Friar opening at 5 am it may seem strange that we do not arrive until around 9:30 am, but with most of the stores opening up at 10am it has worked for us in our 20 years at this location. The Donut Friar is a great establishment and they have their own edge by opening so early and we support them in that way.

Again thank you so much for your review and helping to pass the word of our new name. We look forward to seeing you on your next trip to Gatlinburg.
