“Still reliable in Gatlinburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

Based on past experiences in Gatlinburg (aged and dirty hotels), the Hampton Inn became our hotel of choice. So for this trip, we booked it again. We had a 1st floor, creekside bedroom which is always nice. However, note that since our last stay in 2008, the rooms have seemed to be age quite a bit, but were still clean. Hopefully a refurbish is in the near future before this property falls down the ranks like so many others in Gatlinburg. For a nice, comfortable, clean, and conveniently-located room, this is still a wise choice.

Reasons to pick:
1. At end of strip so you can access via the Gatlinburg by-pass and also have quick access to the state park.
2. Nice parking so you can park your car and walk the strip.
3. Located across from the Smoky Mountain Brewery -- grab a growler of beer and keep in the fridge of your room!

Hi, TravelWriteGrl!

Thank you for your reviews on TripAdvisor. We do realize that our hotel is showing it's age, and are undergoing a $2 million dollar renovation to ensure that our guests get the quality that they have come to expect from Hampton.

This renovation began with our pool and the installation of flat panel televisions. We will be renovating the entire hotel and adding a fitness center. Our scheduled completion date is early 2012.

We hope that you will come back to see the "new" us soon!

Sincerely,
Christie Jordan

This Hampton Inn exudes character. We stayed one night on the Parkway and chose this hotel. Our first floor creekside room was such a surprise. We loved the sound of the rolling water while sitting on our rather large balcony. The creek represents the best of downtown Gatlinburg.

The hotel was conveniently located near end of strip. A dozen restaurants share the area of the Parkway. We enjoyed Calhouns across the street. The parking lot is large and can handle all guests (complimentary parking is a thing of beauty in Gatlinburg).

The customer service personnel shined in all aspects of the hotel from the front desk to breakfast attendants. The rooms were clean and fairly large. The common or breakfast area was well designed and nicely decorated. I liked the seating arrangement, the outdoor patio, and couches.

If you want to spend a few days on the Parkway, this is a wonderful place to stop. But for me, that is what also keeps it from being perfect, I don't want to spend all my time in that setting (although the creek helps you forget about the craziness right outside).

The pool area sparkles and I don't mind the exterior corridors (reminds me of the way all the motels used to be in places like Gatlinburg). The only drawbacks for me are the worn furniture, and the inferior wifi. I had to sit on the balcony to use the complimentary wifi.

I will return in the future, this is now one of my favorite Hampton Inns.

After weeks of researching the hotels in Gatlinburg, I finally decided on the Hampton. We were glad of that decision too. We stayed for 2 nights in a king room on the creek with a private balcony and really enjoyed it. (If it would have been cold, I would have loved to light up the fireplace!) LOL...Staff was very friendly with every enounter we had with them. Loved that it is right on the parkway within walking distance of all the activities. Would definitely stay there again!

We stayed in on of the suites and let me tell...the room was great. A/C would run you out, the bed was to die for and the giant tub made it even better. The price was a little high but being in the middle of everything made it worth it.

I stay at the Hampton Inn Gatlinburg once a year for business. As usual, I was very pleased with my stay. The pool/hot tub area has recently been updated and it's absolutely beautiful! If you stay here, you must swim at night! My room was immaculate comfortable, and cool! The heat was sweltering when I was there and I was pleasantly suprised to find that my room was cool and iniviting when I walked in. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and much more than just coffee and doughnuts....fresh ham and cheese omeltte, home fries and smoked sausage!!! Delicious! I am glad to read that there are more renovations planned for this property. It will continue to be my hotel of choice when I visit Gatlinburg.

Room Tip: Book with the hotel, ask for a creekside room.

We stayed 2 nights in a creekside room on the third floor. When traveling, we regularly seek out Hampton Hotels because I don't want any surprises while traveling. Hampton is nearly always dependable. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The outside entrance was not an issue, and provided mountain views upon exiting our room. The location can't be beat - right on the 'strip' within walking distance to activities and restaurants. The front desk staff was very helpful. When we had issues printing out tickets for a nearby park with the computer provided for guests, the front staff used their computer to pull up and print the tickets.

Room Tip: As expected with the Hampton Brand - clean and comfortable with a good hot breakfast

The location is right on the strip with free parking. We are able to watch the July 4 midnight parade from our balcony. The staffs are friendly and informative. The renovated room is very clean. Definitely will stay at this hotel for our next visiting at Gatlinburg.
