“Friendly, well worth your $$”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We have been to gatlinburg many times and usually stay in cabins. We decided to save $, and try a cheaper hotel. I'll admit, I was a little timid to stay here...but no regrets!!! The guy was extremely friendly upon check in and told me the reason why there were so many teens here(youth convention) even suggested n moving my room to where I would t hear the pool noise with all them in that area. Pool area is great for kids, especially in the winter time, I love that it's open late. The hot tub part is broken, but stuff happens :).....room is spacious, we have balcony to street. Room is clean and t.v is nice. The bathroom is small, but serves its purpose. No fridge in our room, but small table and dresser. The walk downtown isn't bad at all, there is also a trolley stop right in front of the hotel. The only truely negative thing is they dont have a laundry area here for guest. Everything looks relatively clean and I feel like we got a great value for our money. This isn't a 5 star hotel, so for the reviews that criticize it like one ...don't worry, it's a great value and I'd recommend staying here!

Thank you for taking time to review the Glenstone Lodge. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. We have a great two level indoor swimming pool that the kids love. Our rooms are spacious and very clean. The hot tub is up and working as it should and approximately half of our rooms have refrigerators. We hope that you will call us the next time you are planning on visiting Gatlinburg. We look forward to serving you again. Thank you for your patronage.

Stayed one night with a Groupon I had purchased. Thought it would be a good Christmas treat. I didn't look at their website just called and booked. The hotel is dated by all means but it is so VERY CLEAN!! Cleaner than some of the new hotels I have stayed in. The pool was great for kids top pool nice and deep and warm. Rooms were clean and spacious. We had a nice balcony. Only thing we really didn't like was the bathroom seemed super small. Small walk down to the strip not bad but you realize the hill on way back up. Staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast bar smelled good but we opted to go to local restaurant since it was almost same price (hotel was like 9.00 per person) Over all good older hotel.

Stayed here over Xmas, was given a fireplace room , overlooking the strip. Good location, within walking distance of everything. Clean rooms, roomy. Very nice pool area, waterfalls , greenery, hot tub. Nicely decorated. Only thing is that they need to offer a cont. breakfast. They do offer a breakfast Buffett for 9.00. But didn't offer a discount for staying there.

First off, need to let you know that we stayed here for free for 3 nights as part of a last minute preview of another hotel resort. This was one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed at. It has so much potential, but is being so mismanaged its sad. Rooms have rotting cabinetry, broken tiles, mold growing, bedding wasn't even smoothed over when we checked in. All exit signs are broken-clearly the Fire Marshall has not done his job. Signs were up during our whole stay that there would be no water available from midnight to 4:30am. The common areas (halls, elevator, etc) were VERY dirty; did not appear to be mopped in several days. Paint chipping on the floors. The pool area was very humid, pool area carpet appeared to be relatively new but never cleaned, the pool itself was recently re-marcited, but not kept clean. This hotel was a complete disappointment, even being a freebie. It certainly did not encourage me to buy any vacation club.

We apologize for the issues you encountered recently. The fire exit signs are ordered and will be replaced. The carpet in the pool area is cleaned regularly but is scheduled for replacement in the next few months. Our water main is now installed and working as it should. We sincerely regret that we did not meet your expectations and apologize again on behalf of the management and staff.

I've learned with TripAdvisor reviews are based on personal preference and, often, luck.
We were happy with our room (353) and with the hotel overall.
We used a Groupon of $49 a night.
The room was very clean, did not smell and was a good size. The bathroom is pretty tiny but not unusable. We had a hair dryer, fridge, flat screen TV. The wireless Internet does NOT work. At All. We found the staff to be friendly. We asked to be moved from an outside room to poolside so my son (who had been sick) would not have to walk outside after swimming, The change was made with no fuss. The pool was very nice and my 6-year-old Loved it. The deep pool is heated and overflows into the shallow pool sort of heating. Hit tub did the job. Waterfall never worked sadly. We did see staff checking pool chemicals and there is plenty of chlorine! Poolside rooms can get noisy. Pool is open 10-11. One morning people were swimming at 8 am and Screaming. i called the front desk and they must have asked the guest to leave as it got quiet. i know, mean but we were tired. Hotel maids prop open outside doors making it very cool inside, even cold. I closed 9 doors myself the asked the desk to tell the staff not to do it any more. So far so good. Rooms can be a bit of a trek to get too, sort of a maze. Bit of a walk to town center but not bad. We did not eat here but the food looked good. They do seem to host a lot of high school sports groups and they can be Loud so you may want to ask about that when booking. One bed was fine, other s little soft in the middle. Overall, we were Very happy and Very relieved.

Room Tip: If you plan to use the pool book a poolside room but beware there could be noise. First floor will m...

Thank you so much for your review. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed your stay and that your son got to enjoy the pool. Kids absolutely love the two levels of the indoor pool and adults certainly love the hot tub as well. The breakfast buffet is very good with eggs cooked to order and waffles freshly made and it is very reasonably priced. The hotel is convenient to downtown Gatlinburg and close to all that the city has to offer. We hope that you will visit us again when you plan your next vacation in Gatlinburg.

Oh, let me count the ways I didn't like the Glenstone, and will not return here....

1. This place is so OUTDATED. (Old carpet, old furnishings, comforter was the same one from when they built the place.)
2. TINY parking lot in the front, forcing the other 400 guests to park in the back of the building, far from an entrance.
3. TERRIBLE wireless signal, used the next door hotel's wifi to research other places to move to.
4. Very poor outlet placement, our room came with a CHEAP extension cord to plug in phones etc next to the bed.
5. Very small bathroom...if you want to shower, you need to close and walk around the door. I could touch all four walls of the bathroom by standing at the toilet...

But...at least there was a nice pool and hot tub area...filled with screaming out of control kids and teenagers.

Room Tip: Don't get a room next to the pool.....or one at this hotel at all....
