We stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon! The drive up was so beautiful! The trees were snow covered like white cotton candy and were so breathtaking!

On arrival, they were so helpful on where to go and how to get to our cabin.

We decided on the housekeeping plan since we really didnt want to see people too often, and just hide away, so we actually brought groceries along with us to use for lunch and some dinners.

The breakfasts were so good. My husband had the fried walleye for breakfast every morning and I had a wide range of things from french toast, pancakes, and oatmeal. We had it delivered to our room every morning which was so nice!

We did go have dinner onenight in the dining room and were so entertained by the deer eating right next to our window. The salad alone was a work of art! And the rest fo the dinner was yummy as well! And the dessert - the tirimu (sorry I cant spell) was out of this world. I had never had such a good one before!!!!!!!!

We went on a dogsled ride, and went on walks and drives exploring the gunflint trail every day. We fed the deer every day and enjoyed watching them and was even able to recongize some of them as regular eaters and we actually named them for the fun of it!

The service was outstanding. They knew us by our names! The check in and check out process was so easy and well.... everything was great! What else is there to say!

My husband and I could not have dream for a better honeymoon. I found Gunflint in a bridal magazine and I am so glad I came aross it. It is quite a trip to fly and then continue to drive another 3 hours but it was worth it. The drive up Lake Superior was unlike anything I have ever seen in my entire life.....was this really a lake and not an ocean. Make sure to stop and take pictures and feel the breeze coming off the lake. Once we arrived at Gunflint we were amazed! Our cabin was perfect....king size bed, fire place, hot tube, kitchen that you will never use, and a steam shower. The hot tube is surrounded by windows so that you can see the lake view and the sunsets. By the way your cabin is only 30 feet from the lake. The food was incredible! Make sure to have eggs and wali (fish - misspelled) for breakfast. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be delivered to your room or you can eat at the restaurant. Everything is all-inclusive except for alcohol beverages. We went in September and the weather was great.....nice during the day and a cool breeze at night. During the day you can go on the lake, hike, or horseback riding. We went horseback riding and took the boat out everyday. You can explore all kinds of secret places on the lake. We found 2 waterfalls and spent the day just lounging on the rocks right next to the fall. I have never seen such beauty and serenity. The water is cold but make sure to take a quick dip just to experience how refreshing the water feels. The place is very secluded and we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves all week. When we went to dinner in the restaurant we could not believe there were acctually other people staying there at the same time. The staff and service was perfect. If you can not tell I highly recommend Gunflint Lodge. If you are tired of your everyday commercial hotels and resorts this unique retreat is the perfect place to get away from it all. My husband and I will return one day for an anniversary and that is saying something because I never visit any place twice.

We found the Gunflint Lodge via the internet, and we will definitely be returning. We had a cross-country skiing package that included all meals, and they were terrific. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the trails were beyond perfect ! We could have stayed longer and not skiied them all. Other xc ski areas that brag about "30 -40K" of trail are a joke ! Just driving up along Lake Superior to the Gunflint Trail, there must have been a trail marker every 5 miles or so ! Then there is the actual trail system, with a couple hundred K ! No need to worry about snow conditions - they measure in feet, not inches ! We had a "romantic cabin", no. 25, with a 2 person spa, and it was comfortable and clean with fireplace and full kitchen, but didn't use it much as all meals were included. This place was worth the drive - scenic, beautiful and NOT a tourist area !

Went to the lodge for some cross country skiing and were overwhelmed by the incredible dinners and great service. We stayed in one of their premier cabins with a full kitchen and hot tub right at the shoreline. They supply their visitors with corn to place outside the cabin windows to attract deer. Wow, 10-20 deer at a time with their noses 3 feet from us. Highly recommended for everthing!
