“Herring Good? Who Knew!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Looking for local fish the knowledgable young clerk suggested the herring. All we could think of was pickled herring, yuck! The clerk suggested trying the white fish and the herring for comparison. Both were great cooked on a castiron skillet on a wood cookstove. The place was way cute, super cleaned and smelled great. We'd like to go back and check out their lunches. The harbor view was beautiful.

“You don't have to like fish to eat here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Right in town, near the North House Folk School. Tiny little place, but very good, very fresh food. My husband had the fresh cooked fresh, but I had a veggie wrap. All good. Fast food service, but better food.

“Best place to stop in Grand Marais for Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Every time we are heading thru we stop here for lunch and it has never disappointed us. Nothing like fresh fish and crisp french fries with a cold beer sitting on the deck!!!

“Buy Your Fresh Fish Here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

The owners commercial fish on Lake SUperior, so when you get fish, it is right out of the Lake! They also fly in frozen seafood from other areas. Take the time to sit on the deck and watch Harley bring his boat in or go out to fish. A walk down near the dock may net you a glimpse of otters as they play. Great place to pass the time and get a good bite to eat and/or take home.

“Perfect Fries!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

Good service in this charming dockside fish market/eatery. We had 2 orders of fish & chips (fresh herring and frozen walleye). The fries are just perfect. Very crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside...hard to imagine a better fry. The fish was average. Looking forward to trying some fresh whitefish next time. Lots of good-looking seafood salads and sandwiches/wraps for your next picnic, too.
