“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

This was just a convenient overnight stop at the end of a trip, but we had no complaints. The room was clean, we had a nice view of the dam, and the complimentary breakfast was pretty good. Good value.

“Go elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

We stayed here in October as part of a driving tour of the Grand Circle, so it was one of (and by far the worst) of several places we stayed on the trip. The place smelled musty on arrival but we arrived late and had to go straight out again to get dinner so we didn't notice much else the first night, apart from the guests who were complaining to the reception staff when we checked in. That first night we ate at the grill next door to the hotel where the food was fine and the staff really friendly. The only downside was that it seemed to be full of big organised tours, so service might be hit and miss depending on how busy they are - we were lucky as it was the very end of the evening. The next morning I looked for the view of Lake Powell - I had paid extra for a Lake View Room - only to see the wrong side of the Glen Canyon Dam, with all the electricity pylons etc., and a tiny sliver of blue in the far distance if I pressed myself to the window glass. I was really disappointed but decided to take a swim and relax, then discovered that the pool was closed for renovation. When I spoke to the desk staff about the pool and lack of view I was met with complete indifference. I was told I could go over to their sister hotel to swim and that the website mentioned that pool opening was seasonal. I'm sure it probably did mention it but I had booked by phone just a few days earlier and specifically asked about the pool and view as I was trying to make a choice about whether to pay a little more and go to the Lake Powell Resort Hotel and the person I spoke to said nothing about the closure. The front desk staff were not willing to do anything about the room.
The breakfast area was tiny and clearly unable to cope with the volume of people wanting to use it and the standard of the food fell well below that of other Best Westerns we have used. Items ran out and were not replaced in a timely manner so we just gave up, which I'm sure is what they hoped. As other reviewers have mentioned, the towels in the room appeared clean but grey. Whenever I needed to speak to reception about something I seemed to have to wait behind someone complaining about something. This hotel is absolutely trading on its proximity to Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon but it really needs to make customer service more of a priority. I have never felt less valued as a guest anywhere.
If you are looking for a view of the lake, don't be fooled by the name, just pay the extra and stay at the Lake Powell Resort. We spent most of our full day at the resort and it was very good with absolutely breathtaking views from the poolside terrace cafe at lunchtime and the restaurant at sunset.
I filled in a Best Western Customer Satisfaction form once we had left the hotel but have had no response from the company, which does concern me - this hotel is really letting them down and I would have expected them to be more interested.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

We are sorry to learn you did not have a good stay with us. We have been working hard this winter to make many improvements to the hotel. We hope you will be back in the area to see the improvements. Thank you.

“DON'T!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

The (only) good thing is that this is near Lake Powell and if you are lucky you'll arrive late in the evening and get up early to go on the Rainbow Bridge boat trip, but even so ...
Can't speak about other places in Page, but they really can't be worse - can they?
Having read other reviews I had low expectations of this place and even those weren't met.
Too hot; nasty smell, made worse be overheating; a/c had to be on all night to keep air in room breathable; 'blankets' very thin and had to strip other bed of bedding for warmth; towels clean, but GREY/GRAY; breakfast - low quality; 'upgraded' - goodness know what the down market room was like!; had to contact Best Western HO to get points credited even though we were told the night staff would organise this at check in; no direct response from hotel regarding these comments.
Have let BW know that this place brings there name in to disrepute.
Do yourself a favor/favour and go elsewhere.

“No Amenities and Best Western Did Not Tell Us When Booking”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We stopped here because the drive from Canyon de Chelly, AZ to Pink Coral Sand Dunes State Park, UT was too far.
Page, AZ is one hour behind Canyon de Chelly, AZ. AZ does not observe Daylight Saving Time, but the Navajo Reservation in AZ does observe DST. Gets confusing.
We had made reservations For the Best Western View of Lake Powell Hotel and were locked in or lose $.
(Best Western on Rim view Dr. in Page, AZ)

It was A Big, BIG disappointment:
1. No microwave in room
2. No refrigerator in room.
3. No Pool (being renovated)
4. No Spa
5. No Exercise room (Big Disappointment for me).

I would have looked for another hotel, but Best Western has got you because of the 72 hour cancellation policy.
They told us we could go down the street to another Best Western. Then go to the front desk and make arrangements to use their pool and exercise room. A "Customer Oriented" business would have had that all pre-arranged for their customers.
Very, very inconvenient.
Also I need a refrigerator for my diabetic supplies. However, they let us use their refrigerator in the office. Again very, very inconvenient.

One or 2 things wrong, I could live with, but this is ridiculous. Especially since I specifically request a refrigerator and exercise room when reserving rooms with Best Western.

We already have another 2 nights booked and I’m sorry we do. This is enough to make me think about not staying at Best Westerns in the future.

Best Western should have warned us about the "no-longer-available necessities/amenities when making our reservation, most especially because I asked. At the very least, the price of the room should have been discounted, because the only reasons for booking no longer exist!

Breakfast was Standard Cereal, hard boiled eggs, coffee, waffles, bread and yogurt with fruit cocktail.

Another thing that really annoys me is Best Western's reply to your concerns. They send you a form email that has exactly the same wording, no matter which BW motel or hotel manager is answering you. Their managers must be given a book during training from which they can quote. Tells you a lot about Best Western's true feeling towards their customers.

Room Tip: Call the hotel directly before making a reservation and ask if their amenities have been repaired/re...

“Okay for overnight.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Since I was just driving through, I didn't need much, and this hotel delivered. The hotel is under construction, which should have been disclosed on the website at least. Room seemed clean enough and the bed was comfortable. I was lucky getting to breakfast just as a large tour group was leaving so there was sufficient food and seating. It was worth the sixty dollars I paid but probably not much more.
