“Perfect for 1 night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2011

Cheap and cheerful! Its a little old and in need of a bit of updating, but it was clean and fine for a one night stay in page.

$45 incl tax for a double room, with kitchenette area.
Good location for restaurants and visiting Antelope Canyon.
An older motel, right opposite some more popular ones on 8th Ave, but well maintained with friendly, helpful staff.

Page and Lake Powell is a bit like the Grand Canyon. You come for the scenery, not the room. many have siad the rooms are dated and in need of refurbishment, but how many reviewers based that judgment on viewing the one room. Dail and Cheryl have newer smarter ones available, for a higher price. We loved the fact that that there was a kitchenette, allowing us to eat outside at our own table. The bed was comfy and the bathroom clean. And for $50 odd it was an absolute bargain in a town that that has all the big name hotels at double that.
Red Rock Motel is in the "Street of Little Motels" and all offer a similar level of price and convenience. Cheryl however made the difference. A lovely lady, she gave invaluable advice on boat hire, offered her phone, told us where the best sunset views of the lake could be found, a local swimming place and gave us a run-down on the restaurants locally. Dail, too, you're an absolute sweetie and I wish we could have stayed longer and sunk a few cold ones with you.
In short, enjoy the price, accept the rooms ( who wants new curtains?) and revel in the amazing scenery of Lake Powell.

Now, I must say that when I got in the room, I found it really run down; and there was this old-house smell...

But I stayed there 2 nights and after getting used to the place, I can't say that I disliked it. I slept very well and the owners are, in fact, wonderful people and very helpful. The fridge looked like it was a thousand-year old, but it still worked very well.

So, don't go there on your honeymoon, but if you want cheap accommodation in an area where everything tends to be overpriced, why not give it a go!

We were very happy with our accomodation at the Red Rock Motel. It certainly wasn't the Ritz but the rooms were clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised that our room had a kitchenette that was well stocked with dishes and cook ware.

The owner was so helpful! She advised us on things to do, told us how to get our best value for tours of the canyons and suggested restaurants. There were many restaurants within walking distance. We watched her help others find accomodation when her motel was full and even mentioned that she had taken people into her own home when there were no more hotels in Page to be had. She suppied us with ice when our cubes had not frozen in time for use.

I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again.

Not at all what I expected, but I don't mean that in a bad way. The quiet street is lined on both sides of the whole block with small multi-unit buildings that make up the motels. The office was closed when we arrived at 5:00, and we had to go to the owners unit to get checked in. The owner Dail is the epitome of the laid-back Arizonan; he zoomed over to the office on his ATV, which we subsequently learned he rides everywhere around the property! Our unit was dated but well-maintained, as was the whole property, and it brought back memories of growing up in the 1970s (or maybe I was just tired). I took note of the sign on the office door: "Coolers work with the windows OPEN". I'd heard of swamp coolers before, but had never used one. It pumps copious quantities of air past a water mist, which cools the air by evaporation ("swamp" is a misnomer; these only work in the desert). You need to open windows to let the warm air out as the cool air comes in, and adjust the temperature by opening and closing dampers on the unit. I didn't mind the outdated furnishings but it's time to get new mattresses and better window curtains.

We were in the red rock motel in august 2011. The motel is located in the heart of Page which is not a very appealing city. ANyway it is near the major restaurants so you can walk there which is very convenient.

We were welcomed by a very friendly man who showed us where to go to enjoy best views of the the lake. He was very friendly. In the morning he was also very nice and it ws great to chat with him.

Now the major issue is the room. We were in the rooms at the back of the motel. It was a huge room with one big kitchen and one small bedroom. They have not updated the room since the eighties or even seventies. The fridge is a huge 50s style fridge which can be nice for collectors but not if you want to put fresh stuff in it. It might not be dirty but it is clearly too old to try to put anything in it but cans or bottles...The kitchen overall is far too old and you really do not want to do any cooking in it. Too bad! The room was also a bit runned down. Bed is very old, furnitures as well and carpets/curtains looked so so...Air conditionning was very small/poor/old and can not cool the room. There is a huge table and barbecue outside. Again nice idea but you do not want to sit there as well. Overall impression of the room was bad although you clearly see that there is little to do to make a great little place.

I need to add that we were there with friends and although they booked 2 months later, they got a far better room on the other side of the motel. Their room was smaller but remodelled with a more appealing bed! so be careful when you book, try to have a room WITHOUT kitchen...

Last thing, Page is very expensive so the price we paid (55dollars) was a bargain even if the room was really not our cup of tea!
