So this is one of those attractions you immediately recognize from photos - the bend in the Colorado River often seen from a fish eye lens. There is a short hike to the bend, though it is sandy and has elevation changes making it not quite an easy hike for some. There is some real danger from standing on the edge as pointed out in the warning signs, but that doesn't seem to worry too many as the tour buses load unload plenty of tourists. I would recommend timing a visit to mid day with the sun high in the sky - morning and evening will produce shadows as I learned. I heard rumors that because of the tour bus stops the parking lot is going to be expanded. It's probably a matter of time before there are more incidents/accidents just based on the number of people visiting, but it is one of those images you will see in pictures used everywhere.
