“What a change in 5 years !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

First time we stayed at Lake Powell resort it was in 2008.

What a change !! Now it's a big Resort full of noise, tourists and huge buildings.

The beds are not comfortable, room price is some kind of expensive regarding the quality..!

The Rainbow restaurant is good, fresh food, well served, but go early aroud 5PM then after the restaurant is invaded by coachs of Chinese people.

One night is ok and enough for us..We do enjoyed smaller and more charming places.

We were really looking forward to our 2 night stay at this resort. After arriving, we sure were disappointed. The only thing good about this resort is the lake. The rooms are very basic and in need of a major renovation. Very basic furniture in the room and the carpet was torn in areas, as if we were staying in a 2-3 star hotel while paying 4-5 star prices. We paid extra for a lakeview room on the 2nd floor, however, we couldn't see the lake unles we were standing because the balcony is made of solid concrete that comes up to your chest when standing. If you sat in the chairs, all you could see was a concrete wall.

The wifi never worked unless we were in the lobby, which didn't have a large seating area.

We arrived at the breakfast buffet 15 mins after they opened and they were already out of most food items. Had to wait at least 15 mins for the items to be refilled.

We stayed just one night and that was enough. The Hotel is ok, basic, depending on where you stay it can be a long walk to the main reception/restaurants. We had a room facing onto the carpark which was noisy, the place was full with coaches and RV's and very very busy. The Lake itself is very interesting, we had a cruise and once away from the hundreds of boats moored there we got great views of inlets and canyons spectacular colours and rock formations. I hate to think what this place would be like in the height of the season. We had asked at reception if we needed to make a reservation for dinner and were told that it is not necessary, upon arriving at the restaurant desk were told "oh you should have booked" we are very busy. Eventually we sat in the bar and asked the female waitress to check when our table woudl be ready - she was so busy talking to young lads that we had to ask her twice and twice had to remind her of our drinks order. The Bar closes at 10pm, we thought that was a bit early. Restaurant was ok but absolutley no ambience or character, lighting was terrible, food was good and the service was very good, Breakfast was a very basic buffet, not a great selection but enough, long queue's for toast machine - 1 machine only. Good gift shop

this location was awesome in terms of views and access to the lake. however, the basic services were lacking and tired. we had 3 rooms in 2 different wings of the hotel and none of the ice machines worked and with temps approaching 100 and over, this was a must have. we also didn't have coffee cups in our rooms. the lake 'water toys' were not readily accessible to simply hop down to the lake and rent a kayak or other..

Room Tip: pay extra for the lake view room

I spent 2 nights there. I have to say that the view on Lake Powell from the hotel is trully amazing. We had a view on the Marina that was also nice.
I went there 15 years ago with my parents and it seemed to me that nothing had really changed. The rooms are ok but it felt like they were renovated for the last time in the 90's (especially the bathroom). However, we really enjoyed our balcony.
I think that with such a great spot, they could really turn this place into a luxurious resort with better amenities (better swimming pools? maybe a beach on the lake?).
The service wasn't really good, especially when someone knocked on our door at 8am to clean our bedroom on the day we were checking out.

This resort hotel is located inside Lake Powell NRA, so you can enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Powell and surrounding mountains day and night. We stayed in this place for two nights, and one evening we sat by the pool side, sipping cool drinks, and enjoyed a wonderful sunset at the Lake Powell. What a beautiful scene and it's really one of the most relaxing moment in our vacation! The hotel rooms are not very big and foods are average, but for the lake view and convenience this is the place to stay. Don't forget to book a boat tour which launches just by the resort, and you'll truly enjoy the beauty of the Lake, the Dam and some wonderful canyons. By the way, if you ask for a room in the building that is connected to the hotel lobby, you'll get free wi-fi in your room.

We stayed two nites at lake Powell Resort n loved it. We were able to rent jet skis in town n spend one day on the lake. The scenery is outstanding and the water very refreshing. Would stay again. We did not dine at the hotel so cannot make a comment on that. Price of room reasonable.
