Having read good reviews of Chief Tsosie's tours in our Lonely Planet tourbook, we purchased tickets in advance for the 10:30 AM tour on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. To our surprise, our tour group consisted of over 50 people. The group was sorted into several vehicles and driven in a convoy to the entry to Upper Antelope Canyon, where many more people were entering and leaving the canyon. There was no attempt to space the tour groups or limit the number of the group size. Grand Central Station in rush hour is less crowded. We were herded into the narrow slot canyon by a guide who knew little about the place -- no history, no geology, no Navajo culture, nada. We were pushed in and out like cattle.
Yet Chief Tsosie's brochure promises, "We are the company that provides each guest with an intimate experience keeping our groups small enough to personalize your delightful journey." No truth in that advertizing.
Antelope Canyon is a beautiful place, but I will not recommend a visit to anyone now. Find another slot canyon to visit!
