“Many Glacier Lodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

My husband and I spent 4 nights in the Many Glacier Lodge in Glacier National Park. We had a terrific time as we love to hike and then come back to a clean room and a nice meal.
The rooms are very basic, but clean and the beds are comfortable. Beware , there is not an elevator in sections of the hotel and you have to haul your luggage up several flights of stairs.
The Main lobby has an awesome view of the peaks and Swift Current lake. You can alos snuggle up on a comfortable chair in the lobby next to the center fire place.
The Dining room was outstanding, with a violinst playing while you sipped your wine and enjoyed the view. The food was most wonderful, 5 star dining all the way. I am sure we will return, after reading this review, please leave room for us !

Room Tip: You might want your own balcony, as it is hard to find a chair on the balcony at " cocktail&quo...

The name of this lodge indicates its attractions - it sits on the edge of a lake with the most awesome views of glaciers on the the panorama of the surrounding peaks. It is a century old - built to accomodate guests who came in on horseback. The public rooms and decks are spectacular,
The guest rooms are small and spare. One can hike out of the lodge in any direction on a variety of hikes. Food and drink were high standard

This hotel has the most amazing deck...the view is so fanastic that it cannot be described here. I would highly recommend sunset on the deck. Lots of good hikes right out the doors of the lodge and the people are very friendly.

Our only incident was at the Lodge Dining room. The girl at the host stand was very young and evidently inexperienced. We told her that we had four adults and a baby, she told us the wait was 30-40 mins, which would have been fine, but then she sat two tables right away when they walked in and kept us waiting (one table had 4adults + a baby and another had 5 adults). When we asked her about this her hasty reply was "Well, they had five PEOPLE." I was pretty upset that she didn't think my child counted as a person and I spoke to her supervisor. We were seated fairly quickly after that and the food was very nice.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies are very nice - no matter which side of the lodge you are on.

The second week in September, my husband and I traveled for the first time to Glacier National Park in Montana! We arrived in Kallispell, picked up the rental car, stopped at Costco for supplies, and headed to Going to the Sun road that travels through this awesome park! We were staying3 nights at Many Glacier Lodge, on the far eastern side of the park, so we traveled the entire Going to the Sun road to get there! The drive is beautiful, the drop offs take your breath away, the snow capped mountains gives a feeling of Switzerland! We arrived late afternoon, carried our bags up three flights of stairs! Yes, there is an elevator farther down. The lodge is bustling with hikers, sharing stories around the central fire place, of what animals they encountered that day! Many glacier lodge is located in bear, moose, big horn sheep and mountain goat country! The lodge's great room has a huge central fireplace with comfy couches and chairs, a nice dining room, and wrap around decks to sit and enjoy the lake and beautiful mountains! A grand piano awaits anyone who cares to entertain the crowds! our room was just enough room, two twin beds, small bathroom, and a nice deck to enjoy the view! this area is great for hiking, Swiftcurrent trail is close to the Lodge, we saw Grizzlies, moose, big horn sheep on this trail! Take the boat ride to the Grinnell Glacier trailhead, the boat leaves from Many Lodge! Great hike! Watch for cars pulled alongside the road, it usually means a Grizzly is around! The Lodge has a wonderful snack store to purchase sandwiches, drinks, cereal, etc....We would pack lunches in our backpacks before we left each morning! The staff were very helpful and friendly! Tours of the lodge were offered as well as nightly ranger talks! A very nice gift shop is full of memorabilia!
If you are looking for a historic lodge, centrally located where the wild things are, then stay at Many Glacier Lodge!

There's no a/c, TV, and barely any wi-fi, but it's awesome! Work the jigsaw puzzles that are set out, enjoy the lobby music or the quiet, take in a lecture and just absorb the magnificence of the view from the deck. Loved it!

Many glacier hotel has a lot to offer, like amazing views, especially getting to the lodge we saw many bears! There are some great guided hikes near the lodge and the boat trips on the lake are worth the money. We enjoyed our stay here but the rooms are very small and the bathroom in our room was kind of odd with a small, stand up shower. The restaurants are expensive for the quality of food served and when we ate there they were short staffed however there is a little food/bev shop in the basement that has a lot of good alternatives so that you can eat outside or take food/bev to your room. I think the lodge is going to do some updates soon to celebrate their anniversary, so hopefully the rooms will be better in the future.

We love it at the lodge. The best part of course is the location, views. The rooms themselves are minimal but that is the last reason you would stay here. The huge deck overlooks the mountains, the lake.. It is really, really great.
Just imagine sitting on the deck (or inside cuz' it got kind of cold the 2nd night) and drinking wine, looking at the stars. It is so.. what.... ????... natural? One of the most beautiful settings of anywhere I have ever been.
Big fire going in the center of the lobby, people everywhere enjoying the setting. It is really worth it.
The rooms themselves? The bare minimum. Small bed, REALLY small showers really nothing to the rooms at all. But despite all of that, one of the best places to stay in the world!
If you are reading this, you already know you don't really have a lot of options so enjoy this place for what it is.
BTW: They sell snacks and wine downstairs so no worries.
Oh, and DO take the trail around the lake outside the hotel. It is about 2.3 miles and it is really great. Level, easy and you can make it no matter what your condition.
Highly recommended and hope you get to stay here.

Room Tip: try and get a balcony
