The Manzano RV Park, owned and operated by the gracious and friendly Mr. and Mrs. Manzano, is one of those unexpected gems, where creature comforts are met in an understated, yet practical way. There is an immaculate clubhouse with laundry, shower, a kitchen, a room filled with jigsaw puzzles, and a lending library of videos and magazines, and a tiny yet adequate gym (you can get plenty of exercise hiking in the surrounding foothills and mountains) The campground is spic and span, with lots of pretty trees between the sites and some nice views of the mountains. Each site has a picnic table. Because the park is in the foothills of the Gila mountains, the sites are not perfectly level or paved. I noticed that there are extra blocks and chocks near the clubhouse for people who might need them
Should you arrive after hours, or when the Manzanos are not on the site, call the number on the clubhouse door and speak to Mrs. Manzano.
You can easily spend a day walking around Silver City, and then a several more days hiking in any one of the spectacular parks or national monuments. Just five minutes away is the Dragonfly trailhead which brings you to a worthy collection of ancient petroglyphs.
There are 18 hookups, 10 of them are pull through, free WiFi. Be aware that the park only accepts cash or check. The only thing I could have wished for was night time access to the clubhouse between the hours of 8 PM and 8 AM--we are traveling in a small travel trailer, without shower, sink or toilet.
