“Best in NM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2011

My family and I grew up in and around Silver City and really miss the 'red and green' of the Hatch Valley. Jalisco's has such a well rounded menu of both. Some will have a problem with the heat of some of the chile dishes, but the taste cannot be beat. The sopapillas are the biggest and best of any Mexican restaurant we have ever eaten at. We always hit Jalisco's as soon as we get into town. We miss it so much, here in TX. You must try it and the service we had, while there, was prompt and were very well taken care of.

“Good New Mexican food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2011

Jalisco has pretty good New Mexican food. The enchiladas are particularly good. I preferred the red over the green. If you are looking for a good steak, look elsewhere. The service was very good considering it was the waitress's first week. Desserts were huge.

“Great Food, but expensive for Silver City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2011

Best Mexican Food in southwestern New Mexico; however, a little pricey for the Silver City market, but in line with larger cities or slightly higher. The chips and salsa are the best. The green chili can be too hot to eat, so we usually stay away from enchiladas. The sopas are excellent and huge!

“Best salsa and rellenos anywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2011

Jalisco's has been a long-standing favorite of mine for excellent Mexican food. Tucked at the foot of Bullard Street in historic downtown Silver City, the unprepossessing exterior doesn't really signal the quality of their broad range of offerings.

Jalisco's runs on Hatch green chili, best in the world, with combination platters of smothered enchiladas, relllenos and tacos (large and small), as well as American offerings for the less adventuresome gringos.

It's a divine experience not to be missed. Even the damn Yankees from the New York Times liked it!!

“Help wanted.........”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

This place needs help, they even advertise in the lobby, hmmm that should have been a clue....Hey it's "Mexican" so where is the mole? Also the beef they use is ground beef for everything, or it looks like beef, funny we never saw any stray dogs running loose in the downtown..... Service, bring your own. Chips and salsa-blah. Get the green sauce and don't ask the waitress, she has no clue between the red or green. Menu needs an overhaul, but then if this is all the town has to offer then pretend your dining in a "ghost town".
