An Uninspiring hotel with tired decor and a brain-dead desk staff

This is a hotel that exudes mediocrity. I booked it out of necessity, not out of choice.

Having said that, it was an adequate place to stay.

Upon check-in, or I should say attempting to check in, the desk clerk dutifully ignored me for about five minutes. She must have received her customer service training at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

I asked for a quiet, non-smoking room and received one. The stay for one night was perfectly fine. This is not the place to book for a honeymoon--unless you want an instant divorce.

A couple of other points: the subway is quite close and there are a lot of decent restaurants within walking distance.

Found this hotel after escaping from another worst hotel in Brooklyn.
Lobby looks good but spoiled by rude and unfriendly staffs, the valet would be better off if he found himself as a mugger down in some alley. The receptionists are condescending and unhelpful.
Room rate does not justify its self prophesied luxury standard, extractor fan at bathroom hums like an aircraft, you can even hear the creaking floor from upper floor when someone is walking, windows are bolted down, so no fresh air possible, and no fridge to keep your take away drinks or food, if you want to warm your takeaway food there is no microwave anywhere in the hotel, you have to ask the staff to do it which is difficult enough. Coffee making machine have a short cable so you have to put that on the floor, only plastic cups supplied. Huge antique TV with bad reception. Internet access possible with wireless but better with a cable, you have to sign for the cable with a stern warning from the reception staff that if it not return on departure I will be charge for it. What a way to start my holiday with so many negativeness.
I will only recommend this hotel if you have no other choice and there are not many in Brooklyn.

The service was terrible. The receptionist at the front desk was very rude. The beds were flimsy and uncomfortable and the coffee maker was broken. The pillows were old and raggedy and I woke up with a bad case of conjunctivitis (pink eye) that took almost a week to heal.

Nice location, but if you're looking for quality and great service, go someplace else.

Very Nice clean hotel. Everytime I go to Brooklyn I stay there. Most of the staff already know me by name and make me feel like I am home!

As NY hotels go, the Gregory was a pleasant surprise for the money.

Room was clean, staff pleasant, and in one case, exceptionally helpful. Air conditioning worked fine and room was clean. A couple of minor issues with the room (tub drained slowly) that I reported when I left and they said they'd be taken care of.

Decent neighborhood and plenty of good restaurants within a few blocks, though none in the hotel. Convenient to the subway. Carfare to JFK was $28, which is quite reasonable.
