“Greenwood Cemetery-- Awesome Tour Guide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

My son and I had the pleasure of having tour guide Marge Raymond - She was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Greenwood and her humor combined with her deep discussions with myself and the other patrons was phenomenal. Besides her historical knowledge, she is very familiar with birds (names) and also the flower gardens at the cemetery. I was wondering how a cemetery could be so wonderful and full of history and also something that would be a great place to visit on a vacation- what to speak of the beauty of this place.
Im glad that Marge was working that day and on my next trip to NY I will probably phone in advance to see what dates she is working so that the rest of my family can have a specialized tour filled with her knowledge. Thank you very much, Dale S.

“Historic Memorial Park an Oasis in the City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

I found friendly, knowledgeable assistance from Jhon (by communicating in advance) in locating a 140 year old grave of my ancestors. Jhon went the extra mile ... literally.
Parking was readily available and the park is a pleasant place to visit: fun runs, landscaping, 500,000 burials!

“Green-Wood getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

This lovely, pastoral natural landscape is an extraordinary place to visit for tourists and natives. Rich in the history of the city and its permanent residents, Green-Wood also is a nature preserve and a serene place for peaceful reflection. Marge's tour was sensational! She is funny, engaging, erudite and so passionate about Green-Wood and its history you'd think she had lived through it all! There is a fee for the trolley tour and it's well worth it. Bring water, snacks and even a picnic. The entrance is a block from the subway; be prepared to walk the vast grounds.

“A cemetery worth visiting even if you aren't paying your respects”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

One of the most beautiful spots in the New York area -- a visist to Greenwood Cemetery is worth the trip. For history buffs, it is spell-binding and for vistas of the New York harbor, it is magnificent. They run lots of fun programs and tours -- but take an hour or two and stroll on your own and you will stumble upon the graves of the famous and infamous. And learn about the lives of those who have gone before us.

“Skip the phony "twilight cocktail tour"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2014

This is a marvelous place to visit and deserving of many of its rave reviews. It's "Twilight Cocktail Tour with light refreshments," however, is a total sham, offering neither cocktails nor any eats! Shame on this otherwise worthy organization for selling $25 tickets to a "7:30-10:30" tour that barely lasted till 9, at which point guests were hurriedly offered a bottle of beer--not even a glass of wine!!--with no mention at all of any hors d'oeuvres. Do yourself a favor and visit during the daylight hours when you can see more and not be ripped off.
