“Stunning, simply stunning.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Magnificent arcitecture, lush green landscaping....and the tombstones. Those are nice, too. :) I went for a run nearby, and would like to go back and do a proper tour of the grounds.

“A Splendid Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

My husband and I were visiting our son and his family in Brooklyn and realized we were just a few blocks from Greenwood. So we went, expecting a nice bit of calm greenery. We certainly got that and a whole lot more. We took a tram tour with a wonderful guide who was full of fascinating historical tidbits about the origins of the cemetery itself, the old city of New York, the Civil War, the War of Independence, and most of all the celebrated and the infamous residents of Greenwood. Who'd have thunk that in the mid-1800's, New Yorkers would escape their hot and stinky city to come to their newly built mausoleums, using them as "summer cottages". And where else on earth would you go on a tour where your tour guide does a perfect rendition of "Somewhere" over the gravestone of Leonard Bernstein. It was a lovely few hours and we used the free coffee coupon that came with the tour and had a great snack at "Baked in Brooklyn" just across the street from the cemetery. We'll be back.

“Amazing views of NYC harbor - Greenwood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

This is an amazing place to visit - a beautiful park, filled with history, art and architecture. Take one of trolley tours or just roam. There is American history at every turn as well as fabulous views of the NYC harbor. It has the highest spot in Brooklyn and has wonderful peaceful places to sit and take it all in. There are maps and helpful people at the visiting center and there are always fun events going on - like the moonlight tours. Put this hidden gem into you trip plan and reserve a spot on the trolley! It's lovely in every season.....
