This hostel is actually an apartment block with three floors. Each floor was its own apartment (with a living room/kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom). It's been converted into a hostel - which means the living area/kitchen of the upper two floors are now each a 10-bed dorm. The two bedrooms on each floor are 4-bed dorms and 6-bed dorms. Because there are only 3 bathrooms in the whole house, it gets a little bit crowded. We stayed on the third floor in the 4-bed dorm. This was great because you get some privacy from all the other 15 people on that floor you're staying with. However, you do have to share the bathrooms with everyone which means there's always a line. If you need to be somewhere at a certain time, I would suggest getting out of bed early to use the bathroom because by 8.30-9am all three bathrooms are always occupied. We had to basically be a spy from our room to watch when the bathrooms are free. Other than that, the hostel is in an extremely safe neighbourhood, and is very close to two subway stations. We walked around the neighbourhood (you can go to 9th street and walk up 5th avenue, there are lots of restaurants and bars) in all hours and we've felt really safe. The hostel is not extremely clean (especially the bathroom) but that's the kind of thing you get for a very crowded hostel. It's a great place to meet other travellers, though, and we have a lot of fun. People are very nice and friendly and are always watching movies in the common area downstairs. The host is very friendly and is extremely easy-going. We couldn't believe how lucky we were with the price (it was so cheap being so close to Manhattan). We had lots of fun here.
