“Great atmosphere and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Located in a great location...only 2-3 blocks from the train station, BAM, Theatre for a New Audience, and Barclays. We went there before catching a 7:30 curtain. Charming place decorated very nicely. It's small but that adds to the charm and coziness. We arrived early enough for a drink or two at the bar before dinner. The bartender was very nice and attended to us quickly. We then went to our table. Fresh bread and water was brought to us right away. They offered a few nice sounding specials and the menu had a good selection of dishes. We shared an appetizer, which was very good. Both of our meals were delicious!!! We then shared a dessert which was terrific. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The food and overall service was excellent and the prices are very fair. The restaurant got crowded but it doesn't get noisy...nice to be able to talk to the person you are with without talking over others. They offer a 10% discount for those attending a show at the theater. Overall we had a great experience here. We will def be back. Great atmosphere, service, and food.

“Hearty food and warm atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013 via mobile

Located on a great Brooklyn village square we wandered into this charming place for a pre jazz concert meal (Brooklyn Jazz Orchestra - don't miss them!). A Sunday afternoon and it was packed with local families all enjoying the food. At our table we enjoyed pasta, risotto and meat dishes and even ordered a side of their delicious meatballs when the aroma from our neighbours table enticed us. We also shared a couple of excellent desserts. A lucky find and we'll be back to Brooklyn for the jazz and the food.

“Perfect when going to BAM”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

We went at 6pm for a 7:30 curtain, knowing that we had to pick up our tickets and it's a zoo. They are good at getting you out in time without your having to stress over it. Food is very nice. We each had something else and everyone enjoyed. Good choice when going to BAM. 2 blocks away.

“Great eatery in Brooklyn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

I was taken to lunch by distant relatives who highly recommended this eatery, and no wonder!
I had arrived early and was made welcome by the staff who gave me the option of sitting at the bar or going to the assigned table.
Once the family arrived we settled down to chosing out meal which was made difficult from the many mouthwatering options that were on the menu.
We all opted for a magnificent Caesar Salad, but chose different mains. My spaghetti had olives and anchovies and was superb.
My dessert was fantastic but I cannot remember the name of it! Sorry!
The only reason I have given a 4 for atmosphere is that we had a wonky table.
Dont have a reason to go to this restaurant!! Just go!! You will not be disappointed!

“Worse panini I ever had”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Coming home (our rented apartment on Lafayette) from the BAM (John Turturo feature, for Ibsen;s The Master Builder), Scopello's patio tables lured us in. Alas, outdoor dining it was not to be. "Only for drinks, diners inside," we were told. Inside was actually very nice. Wait staff friendly and welcoming. But then there's the food. AWWW. As in awful.

The Panini anyway. I ordered what seemed to be the best bet among the 3 paninis on offer, the panino clasico. Came cold. Haven't seen the inside of an oven, let alone a Panini maker. Nothing inside was heated, nor outside, for that matter.

My hubby's order fared better - Linguini con vongole. Nice. Tasty. The only saving grace in the evening. Otherwise, this restaurant would have rated a one star.

Son's dish was the papardele with sweet sausage ragu, mascarpone, mushrooms. So so. Salty, ragu a big thick.

The wait staff though, was gracious. I asked: "do you really serve your paninis cold?" The reply: "oh, wasn't it warm?" Hmmm. I had this crazy idea that they were supposed to be more than lukewarm. But the Panini I got was not even that.

This is the worst rating I've ever done on tripadvisor. Sorry, Scopello, but that was a waste of a meal.
