This place is quite an experience. It really doesn't look like much from the outside but it is one of the iconic Brooklyn pizza places and definitely worth the experience. An old man hand makes each pizza. He used to pump out a lot more - he has slowed down over the years, closing on some days and for 2 hours in the late afternoon to take a break. We wanted to go there as quickly as possible as this man is getting up there in age and we didn't know how much longer he is going to be making pizzas. There is a woman there who helped take orders but this old man literally handles every single pizza from beginning to end. The bad part is that just getting one pizza takes forever. We went on a slow day, had to wait to put in an order, and then had to come back in 2 hours to pick it up. The seating inside is limited and bare basics. Nothing fancy or even comfortable - if I hadn't gotten lucky and caught someone on their way out, I would have probably been angry that I waited so long and would have to eat a pizza standing up. That being said, the pizza was FANTASTIC. Each bite was so different. Some were all tomato, some were more cheesy (loved the parmesan on top), some bites had more of a basil flavor (fresh basil is cut on top of the margarita pizza)... there were so many levels of flavor. I could have eaten the whole pie myself. I would have ordered more if not for the whole ordeal of ordering. Definitely worth experiencing - and go quickly as there is no telling how much longer you will be able to enjoy this unique experience!
