“A breath of fresh air!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

What a charming, relaxing place for Sunday brunch -- or any other meal. The food is plentiful and delicious and the surroundings are so soothing and mellow. It's hard to believe this indoor garden setting is in the middle of a bustling city.

“Hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

I would never know about this restaurant if I didn't live nearby. There are several better known restaurants in the immediate area of Carroll Gardens, and one where you have to wait on line for as much as 20 minutes to get a table, but I've rarely had to wait here. First, when you enter, it has the aura of a French country cafe, which is charming enough. But it's real glory is in the back. There you will find what best could be described as an indoor garden, replete with lush plants, sculptured trees, fish ponds with streaming water, and religioius statuary. It projects a serene, Zen-like environment. The food itself is tasty, well prepaired, and moderately priced with good, imaginative pastry and desserts. My wife and I dine there at least once a week, The one downside is that it has a "cash-only" policy, which was a bit of inconvenience when we had our pre-wedding dinner here. .

“Gone downhill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

On a trip to New York last year we found this place by chance, loved it and returned many times during our visit. Back again in NY we came for brunch this Sunday morning bringing friends with us. It wasn't a good experience. Quite a number of extra tables had been crammed into the back area. Our food - four brunches - was mediocre, poorly presented. The service was decidedly strange. The waiter refused to serve us pastries with our coffee - in fact he told us they didnt have any pastries even though we'd walked passed cases of them on our way in! So what was all that about? We were a decent well behaved group with money to spend & still a bit hungry. Not in the mood to make a fuss we simply took ourselves elsewhere to finish off our brunch. But don't you worry, we won't bother you with our custom again. You've gotten greedy and sloppy and surely in a city of 8 million you can find waiting staff with a bit of a brain, business savvy and some customer skills. Such a shame - you were previously so good

“Lovely indoor garden, slow service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2011

I love going to Le Petit Cafe just to sit in their garden. It is enclosed, so you can enjoy it year round. The waterfalls and plants make you feel like you have been transported. Of course on closer inspection you will notice that many of the 'trees' are actually large pieces of metal art! The food is of consistent quality and standard cafe fare: breakfast of pancakes and omlettes, lunch/dinner with pasta, burgers, fish, and sandwich choices. The only downfall is the service. It doesn't matter if it is crowded or you are the only table there, you will wait a long time for your food. They have wine, but the staff doesn't know much about it and it is usually served too warm (they must keep it in the kitchen)

“Great breakfast, great atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2011

We went there for "brunch" on a Sunday. When they say "brunch" it's really just a la carte breakfast, there are no special deals/offers for brunch. But it's definitely worth it going there. The food was really good; we had mango mimosas, the lax omelet, the huevos rancheros and some kind of panini. all delicious! though the place is fairly small, there is a lot of room in the back. the courtyard is beautiful, very eclectic, art, plants, fountains, etc. The service was good, too.
