Description: Alice's Arbor serves authentic, seasonal, full-flavored American dishes with an emphasis on farm-to-table fare for the Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill and Crown Heights areas. We are open early til late every day to give our neighbors a haven whenever they may need it. The decor of the restaurant is created from reclaimed materials throughout, with vintage barn wood and pallet wood being used to create a tasteful aesthetic. Our sensibility is casual comfort, while our service and product are of the highest quality. We pride ourselves on being as diverse as the neighborhood we're located in. Our menu at night is based on local farms, while our wines are natural, organic and local. Alice's Arbor, is not only a restaurant but also a gourmet store selling local or organic groceries (pickles, cookies, pasta, jellies, books...) Coupled with a day time operation serving delicious sandwiches and salads.

“Pleasant dining, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

We almost walked away, thinking it was closed as it was quite dark on the outside. Luckily we went inside and had a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

“High Quality Food In A Relaxed Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

I want to move to Bed-Stuy just so I can eat here all the time! We went here several times, for brunch, lunch and dinner and were never disappointed. If you want a romantic dinner, try a wine flight, it's fun.

“Great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

Brunch at the weekend is fantastic value, with a yummy meal, coffee and a cocktail for $14.99! We loved the buzzing atmosphere and great music, and the food was excellent! A little gem.

“Charming Cafe, First-rate Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

I'd heard bout this cafe from a restaurant critic and it sounded so intriguing that I decided to go there with a companion and try it and see if the critic was "spot on". We drove there for lunch and were able to find parking just across the street which was unusual. But there is public transport, either bus or subway and it will drop you off very close by.

In front there are very large windows looking out onto the street and it was very bright and sunny the afternoon we went there. And not crowded. The tables are not too close together and there is lots of floor space so it was very airy and open. The menu has quite a number of choices so I opted for a Quinoa salad and the "Lost Goat" Sandwich which is vegetarian with tomato, goat cheese, arugula and tapenade on 7 Grain Bread, both were excellent. My companion had mac and cheese which was raved about as "the best" mac and cheese ever. Quite a lovely little lunch.

All in all, the critic got it absolutely right, and I was glad to have made the trip..Since it is very easy to get there by bus, the B25, I hope to get back there soon.

“Wow - what a find.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Have been here twice now - both times excellent. If you haven't been to Bed-Stuy lately (or ever), heading out to have a meal at this place is worth the subway ride. Living now on the west coast (after a decade in Manhattan), our trips to Brooklyn are obviously rare these days... but this place gives us a reason to meet up with our Brooklyn friends whenever we're back in NYC.

Like "Do or Dine" (a few blocks away), this is a great spot in an emerging area. A "gem" as others have said. In this case, just off Fulton, near the subway stop, it's easy to get to for those not fond of this still-challenged neighborhood at night. The room is attractive, the wait staff exceptional, and the food... well... I had expected it to be good, but it was better than that. Truly great. The food (especially the almond trout) was among the best I've ever had. In all, our group agreed (on my last visit) that it was one of the best dinners we could recall in a long time. Very good food, very good service, cold beer, a good bourbon selection, and a quiet, but funky/fun vibe - makes this a place a winner.
