This is an old, congested neighborhood. Parking is always a problem but there are many conveniences.
Many specialty food stores (Italian, Russian) line the streets.
At Bay street, the true attraction is found at the start of a long bay side promenade which stretches for several miles, past Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton and Verizon Narrows Bridge.
Do yourself a favor and take a slow bike ride along this strip on a warm summer evening.
Lovers occupy the many benches, fishermen wait for a bite along the railing and The Bridge looks like a post card. At the north end of the promenade you will be treated to a spectacular view of NY harbor, Lady Liberty and lower Manhattan.
Easiest way to get there is to park at one of the free parking lots along the Eastbound Belt Parkway.
