“Great service, free breakfast and shuttle to time square”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

Front desk staff was curteous, helpful, and just plain awesome. Free continental breakfast. Free shuttle to time square every day (except Saturday) at 9:30am. Good value. Quiet. Save neighbourhood, walk to subway, quick cab to the fun parts of Brooklyn.

The hotel is ok, it's really not a big hotel. feels like a motel. Strongly advise that people with small children avoid this area. we spent 2 nights at this hotel and the second night we had to call the police because there was a huge fight next door to us. we were horrified. could not sleep till 4 am because of all the shouting and slamming ... will never go there again, obviously! The neighbourhood is just creepy.

A wonderful boutique hotel in Brooklyn, very close proximity to the city either by car or subway. After viewing the website I had some questions, spoke with "Davi" by phone. He was very helpful in securing the room we needed for the best price. Upon arrival everyone was very helpful, polite and friendly, very welcoming. Our room was on the 3rd floor and very quiet. . The room was perfect. Beautiful linens, pillows and comfortable mattress. The breakfast which is included was terrific with great coffee, cereals, fruit, selection of pastry and bread. The attendant was always present to assist as needed.
We have found our hotel in Brooklyn and plan a return in the very near future.

We stayed here for three nights and found the hotel very satisfactory. The room was quite large by New York standards -- essentially a three-room suite of bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/living room, all for about $140 per night including all taxes etc. Clean and well-maintained. The kitchen does not contain any cutlery, plates or bowls; just a couple of glasses and a corkscrew. The nearest subway station is an easy ten minute walk away. The front desk personnel were polite and helpful in an unobtrusive way.

The neighborhood is unusual, in that it is a Hasidic community. For three blocks in any direction virtually the only people you will see on the street are Hasidic Jews -- men in long black coats, white shirts and black hats, with long curled sideburns, women in dark clothes and covered heads, and large numbers of cute kids similarly dressed. As a secular out-of-town gentile, I found it interesting and rather exotic -- more so than looking around many places that are actually foreign, like Milan or Barcelona or even downtown Tel Aviv. Perhaps it's similar to staying in an Amish community in that respect. Just around the corner is a Hasidic 24-hour supermarket, which is fascinating from a sociocultural perspective (at least, my wife and I thought so) even if you don't actually need to buy anything. While the physical condition of the neighborhood is rather run-down, we always felt quite safe, even late at night.

I recommend this hotel as a good economical and convenient place to stay in Brooklyn, and will likely return.

After reading the last few reviews I felt compeled to write something.

I recently stayed at the Pointe Plaza Hotel with my family. This was the first time staying in NYC with our children and we choose this hotel because they would accomidate a family with three children. (Something not easy in Manhattan.) The staff was exceptionally pleasent and everytime we met a staff member in the hallway they asked if there was anything that we needed. For that matter housekeeping tucked my daughters stuffed animal in when they made the bed. (It made my daughter's day.)

The room was very clean and we were advised on check-in that pots and pans were available. We just needed to ask. I understand why they would not want to keep the pots and pans in the room. I would feel more comfortable knowing that the pots and pans were kept someplace where they could be kept clean until they are used.

As for street noise, you are in NYC. It is a city that never sleeps and no matter what hotel you stay in there is going to be some noise. I did not find it exceptionally noisy and it was not something that was a problem for my family.

The subway was a 10 min. walk from the hotel making it easy to get anywhere we wanted. We often returned after 9:30 at night or later and never once did we feel unsafe. As stated previously, the hotel is in a Hasidic neighborhood. My family felt very safe. For that matter part of our stay was over Passover and there were very few people on the street at night until late in the evening after the evenings obligations were over.

It was interesting watching the people of the neighborhood prepare for Passover. I used our time in the neighborhood to help expand my children's understanding of other people and cultures. If you are staying in this neighborhood take time to learn a little and experience something new.

My only complaint was that the bed was very small. While it was marketed as a full-size bed, I'm not sure the description was acurate. Neither my husband or I are big people and we barely fit in the bed. Had it been just one or two nights it wouldn't have been so bad, but we were there four nights so I was anxious to get home and have a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for the biggest bed that you can otherwise you any your partner may not fit in the bed if you ar...

Just stayed at the Pointe Plaza in April. We had a very nice experience. Highly recommend this hotel!!! It is located near public transportation. The rooms are very spacious, clean and modern. The kitchenette offered plenty of space too. It had a nice size refrigerator, microwave and a 2 burner stove. Plenty of cabinet space too. Kitchen supplies were provided immediately upon our request. The neighborhood is very safe, even at nighttime. We felt very comfortable strolling down the street with our young child. There are also plenty of stores nearby where we were able to shop for food and other items. The staff was always friendly and professional. We would gladly stay there again.

As I was in Brooklyn a few months ago, I 1st discovered the Pointe Plaza while it was still in its early stages, all I can say, I came back now for the second time, I was surprised how much effort the hotel puts in for the upkeep & to satisfy its guest, there were many additions since my last stay,
Pointe plaza worked great for me, & will defiantly recommend it for others.
p.s. almost forgot to mention.... the staff is the most wonderful staff I ever met, they really make you feel, as you were the only guest.... even though they had a full house.. Thanks
