“Great Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

I was in NYC to be with my son who was having surgery. The staff at the Condor Hotel went out of their way to help in anyway they could. They were always kind and courteous. The bagels (at breakfast) were fantastic! I enjoyed the experience and would stay there again. The small kitchen came in very handy since my son was on a liquid diet and we needed somewhere for his protein drinks.

About the rating. If you are visiting Williamsburg then I would give it four stars. If however you want to visit other areas of Brooklyn it gets three stars because of the location.....and price.

Location. The hotel is on commercial back street in Williamsburg. There is a zip car lot across the street and absolutely nothing of interest on the block. Nada. Sort of a commercial wasteland. It is a drive to any other place in Brooklyn.

Ambience. The lobby is trendy kitsch. Neon lights, grey leather stuffed chairs. My memory says the carpet was shag. Maybe not, but it seems that way. Everything is clean and up to date.

Rooms. The room is well appointed and large enough for a king bed but not much else.
There is a small kitchenette at the entrance. The bathroom is quite nice but small. There is a tub and shower. The shower has a rain head with plenty of water. The toilet does not have a cover which can be a problem in a small space. One of our brushes found its way in.
The towels were thick and plentiful and the toiletries fine. Everything looks new and is of good quality.

The bed was very good. There were seven pillows and whether by design or chance there were three levels of softness to the pillows. From soft to firm. But the bedding was quirky. There were two single bed comforters, one for each side. No problem unless you want to be near your loved one.

The lights were really quirky. The switches were all jumbled up so you had to have the light over the bed on to turn on the bathroom light. And there was no light over the small desk.

There are no views anywhere except to other brick walls.

Service: The people at the front desk were friendly and tried to be helpful. Considering the location you would think they would have some maps of Brookly. Well, they don't. They had a good Brooklyn brochure but didn't realize they had it. We found it on our check out.

Breakfast: There is a B on the elevator. In most hotels the B stands for Basement. In the Condor it stands for Ballroom. I think Breakfast room would have been a better choice, but in any case, the breakfast is the standard business hotel selection: make your own waffles, bagels and toast, cerial, yogurt, fruit etc. Fine to start the day.

Price: The total for the night was $270. That, and the location, may be the principal reason it gets only three stars. For $270, its average. For under $200 (with tax) it would get four stars, particularly if you're primarily visiting Williamsburg.

Condor Hotel was a surprising and overall positive experience. I travel to New York City often, but I have never booked a hotel in Brooklyn. I must say, I'm glad I did. The staff is warm and friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here! The breakfast was good considering the deal for the room we got. I was expecting less.

The staff was so kind and helpful, and the rooms were beautiful and cozy. Also, the hotel is in a safe neighborhood with easy access to sites in Manhattan and only a short walk to Pratt Institute. We will visit again soon!

It was our first visit to NYC and it could not have come under worse circumstances. HOWEVER, my stay at the Condor was definitely a positive turning point during this visit. The rooms were pretty and very clean. The front desk was very accommodating in regards to answering our numerous questions about the area and how to get around. I felt like we were staying with friends and that was a pretty awesome feeling. ONE thing, the breakfast was okay but no hot foods. But that did not stop us from eating it each and every morning, so i am not complaining. VIVA LA Condor!

Condor Hotel was a surprising and overall positive experience. John at the Front Desk was always making sure that everything was fine and was offering 5 stars service.

The breakfast was good considering the deal for the room we got. I was expecting less.

Well located and close (10-15 min walk) to subway to Manhattan.
