“Amazing value for NY”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I have been coming to this hotel for more than a year because of a work project in Brooklyn. The hotel is clean, well run and a great value for NY. While the neighborhood is mostly light industrial it is safe and easy to navigate. There's a stop for the F train 3 short blocks away which makes getting around Brooklyn or into Manhattan very easy. The wifi and breakfast are fee of charge, and though the rooms are small they are comfortable and very, very clean.

The hotel attracts many European visitors to NY, so conversations over breakfast take place in a wide variety of languages.

I was initially skeptical of the place because of the great price, but once I was there I was happy to see that it is simply a great value.

My husband and i stayed at Sleep Inn for 5 nights during October 2012. Hotel was easy to find, only a couple of streets form a subway. The staff were very helpful and friendly and had no probs checking in. The room was excellant and had a King size bed which was so comfortable and slept well each night. Towels changed each day. Breakfast was included and had a very good choice, could make own waffels, plus had sausages and eggs. Doughunts for breakfast too with coffee and juice!!!! 30 mins by subway to Manhattan was a bonus too. Daisy Dinner on 9th Street is a must to check out too. Would stay again if we re-vist New York.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel Oct. 8-11, I can say this hotel was way better than the one we stayed in Yonkers,NY. The hotel is in a neighborhood but you can see it off the highway. The staff there are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but if you are not going to be there and in city a lot you not going need it but to sleep. They helped us out a lot. The subway is 3 blocks from the hotel. We rode on the subway everyday to Manhattan and came back late. I felt safe walking to the hotel late nights. The community that the hotel is in is a good area. The area has a lot of different shops and restaurants. You just have to walk but the area is really nice. I would stay in this hotel again!!

My husband and I recently spent 2 evenings there. We had room 402 (smoking). It was clean and had a view of the parking lot which I really liked. The beds were soooo comfy and It made it hard to get up in the morning. It is a noisy location as the queens/manhattan expressway runs a block away. It is on a one way street, but navigating the neighborhood was a breeze. We were just 3 blocks from the R train (subway) which took us straight into manhattan. Very convenient. The subway costs 2.25 a ride and much more economical than the cabs. On the first morning our toilet backed up and maintance was there in less than 10 minutes and had it fixed. :) The only drawback was the free parking. Yes, it is free however they only have 10 spaced, so we had to do window patrol a few times and move our car off the street and into the parking lot when a spot opened up. I would stay there again due to the cost being much cheaper than manhattan.

This hotel is easy to mix up with the other Sleep Inn in Brooklyn, which has terrible reviews: but the Downtown Brooklyn Sleep Inn on 22nd street is nothing like that, and really is a hidden gem which I plan to stay at every time I return to New York in the future. Price wise it was approximately 1/3 the price of hotels in Manhattan, yet it was only a 25-30 minute commute on the subway into downtown (I'd guess about 45 minutes to midtown). The hotel was clean and well appointed (very well appointed for a hotel in this price band), and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast options weren't up to much (heck, what do you expect, it's free...) but there's always a Dunkin' Donuts just up the street... The subway (25th, R-Train) is just 4 blocks away, so getting to town and back is easy. The only slight downside is that the location doesn't have a lot of varied options for eating - I found it was better to eat in town before coming back to the hotel - but there's a few places nearby to grab a quick bite if you don't. Whilst it's close to the expressway, I didn't hear any noise from this during my stay. A nice little hotel which makes for a very cost effective stay in NY.

This is a great little oasis of clean living in the middle of an otherwise, dirty Brooklyn, but the folks in the neighborhood don't reflect the mess around them. We had an excellent stay in a nicely appointed, though small, room. Breakfast each morning on the house was palatable and subway to Manhattan is only 3 blocks away. Friendly, accommodating service here. I will be back. Very near the port if cruising. MUST eat at Jake's Barbecue !!

Room Tip: C level rooms are below the street, but I imagine all the rooms are quiet here.

We were in town for a wedding in Brooklyn & this hotel was convenient to the wedding venue. It was a small room but it's price reflects this. The hotel was clean & the staff was friendly. The breakfast area had a good variety of choices. It was a short walk to the subway also.
