“Beautiful neighborhood..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

Predominantly Russian neighborhood so you can find Russian restaurant, beauty parlor, pharmacy..but there are plenty other resto such as Turkish or Italian.
Went there at the beginning of winter so couldn't enjoy the beach that much.
Took a nice walk around the relatively calm neighborhood and enjoyed d fall beauty..
It's about 1 hour away from Manhattan by train..so it's nice to go if you are looking for a short gate-away from the busy downtown.

“Russia in America!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

Brighton Beach, immediately east of Coney Island, is the largest Russian-speaking neighborhood outside the former Soviet Union. Many of the neighborhood's residents are Jews, especially from Ukraine. Street signs are often in cyrillic script, & lots of Russian delicacies are available - try the blintzes sold on the sidewalk on Brighton Beach Avenue! One block from this major thoroughfare is the Boardwalk, the easterly extension of the Coney Island Boardwalk - great for a beach stroll.

“A Russian Enclave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

Known as Odessa by the Sea, Brighton Beach has been transformed into a Russian enclave. Aside from the beach and boardwalk, dine on authentic Russian food either as fast food or 5 star dining. Spend the evening on the boardwalk and be treated to street musicians playing the accordion, sax, or other instruments. Shop in the local food emporiums for an array of exotic delicacies.

“A great beach to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Large expanse of sand right next to an iconic boardwalk that can take you all the way to Coney Island. Plenty of room to spread out and take in some sun and waves
