“Good Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

I had a good stay here.

Positives:
Room was clean
Continental Breakfast was included (bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, fruit, etc.)
Descent gym (2 elliptical machines, 3 treadmills, 1stationary bike & free weights/2 weight machines)
Great location, right in downtown Brooklyn- lots of shops & restaurants nearby
Staff was very friendly
The best cookies ever in the lobby in the p.m
Reasonable rate (after negociations)
Close to subway
Super comfortable bed

Cons:
The room was small & a little bare bones on the décor
Not much of a view from our window

I would recommend this hotel.

My daughter and I stayed in several hotels in Manhattan while waiting to rent an apartment. We were looking for a larger room than in the city, clean and affordable. We found all that and more in NU Hotel! The hotel was only a 10 minute drive over the bridge and into lower Manhattan. There is on-street parking nearby, and a garage next door if you prefer, which was a flat rate of $25 for hotel guests compared to the $60 we paid the previous night in a hotel near Times Square. The cost of one night was $70 and included breakfast and FREE internet! NU is a new modern boutique hotel with four floors-we were on the fourth floor and it was quiet. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are large with the bathroom far enough away from the bedroom to ensure privacy. The breakfast included hard-boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, fruit, bagels, juice, coffee, tea, and granola bars. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. It was definitely worth the price!

Room Tip: Rooms away from street are quieter.

Thanks for the kind review!! Looks like you took advantage of one of our specials. Great! Glad you enjoyed the experience! Manhattan is slowly becoming Brooklyn's outer-borough! :) I'm sure we'll see you again soon!

My husband and I stayed here last night and were really happy with the cleanliness and service. Real modern look and feel to the hotel. The price was perfect and they even gave us a discount on the room after we checked in and the tv didnt work.
Breakfast had a good selection of yogurt, cereals, bagels and fresh fruit. Loved the location.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review! My apologies about the TV not working on arrival. We recognize when we fail to meet expectations so that's why we wanted to do the right thing and give you a discount. We hope to see you back in Brooklyn soon!

We chose this hotel for it's location to my brother's condo (1/2 block away) but couldn't have been happier with the accomodations. Great rate. Clean and uncluttered room. We never really took advantage of morning continental breakfast but would find it sufficient to get going and start the day. Staff was friendly and accomodating whenever needed. Lots of international travelers also appeared to be staying there. Remarkably quiet, considering we were pretty close to downtown Brooklyn and right across from a jail!

A fresh modern hotel in Downtown Brooklyn. Small and unique. Excellent location close to several subway stations. Great restaurants and bars in the area.

Of course, it is not Manhattan, but for those who could consider Brooklyn as an option I really recommend this hotel.

Breakfast could be more varied and self-made, but New York is not Europe in this sense any way.

Room Tip: Rooms to the inner yard have a less interesting view but less noice from the streets.

My husband and I just got back from a 5 night stay, we were in town for a family reunion and most of our family was staying at the NU Hotel also. The room was great, large by NY standards, we had a crib in the room and it was still fairly roomy. The bathroom was great, really large. the only drawback was they had a rain shower head and it had no pressure at all. took forever to get my hair wet. The only negatives i can say about the room was our TV didn't work (not a big deal for us, we don't watch much tv) and the room seemed really loud at night. not from noises outside the hotel but seemed to be coming from above and around our room. The lobby is nice, but can get crowded during breakfast and in the evening with people having drinks. The breakfast was very basic but good. The staff was very friendly. I would totally stay there again.

Thanks for taking the time to write about your recent experience at NU. We're pleased to have been able to make your stay enjoyable despite the concerns you mention. It's also our pleasure to report that we'll be replacing the TV's in all rooms with 42in LED TV's beginning January 14th. We expected the project to be completed within that week. This will resolve all TV concerns moving forward and provide a great upgraded amenity for all of our guests. We'll also have our Director of Engineering review the concerns with noise. This is exactly the type of feedback we need to get better at what we do. We look forward to having you back as our guest soon!

We stayed here as part of a wedding group around Thanksgiving and were generally impressed. The price is moderate and our room was fairly large, especially by NYC standards. The breakfast is more than sufficient, especially given that it's free with your stay. The look and feel of the hotel is very chic and stylish, yet comfortable. The service was low-key but more than adequate. Location is fine for seeing Brooklyn and is also only a few stops on the Subway from the south parts of Manhattan. We'd almost definitely stay here again.
