“Great place to stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

We stopped here for five nights over Easter 2012 having come from Engand and really enjoyed our stay. David and Masha really welcomed us to there home and made us feel as if we lived there. Great breakfasts and we met some really nice poeple at the breakfast table.
Brooklyn is full of character and people who are always willing to help you out when stood on a street corner looking at a map when you are lost. You won't stand there for long before one of the locals ask if you need help. The house is a typical large brown stone propertyand the Arches room we stopped in was great and very relaxing. You could even get live Engish Premier League football on the large TV in your room. Getting about is no problem with the subway a short walk away and 29 dollars for a 7 day pass allows you to ride the subway and loacal buses as many times as you want. One of the free subway APPS on your phone makes travelling to and from the B and B really easy. Will we stay here again ? Definitely yes and so should you.

I lived for 6 years in NYC before moving to London. When I had to revisit with my spouse and 4 year old I decided to opt for Sterling based on tripadvisor reviews. I was very happy as David and Masha made us feel welcome and did all they could to help make us comfortable. The room we were in was super spacious and the breakfasts were great (home baked croisants and pastries as well as other options). We highly recommend Sterling. It is very close to the subway and some really good restaurants--couldn't be a better way to enjoy NYC!

Room Tip: The Arches is the biggest room

We decided to forgo a chain-style hotel during a visit to New York and opted for this wonderful establishment in Brooklyn. The room we stayed in, the Arches, was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The high end linens and bath towels were a luxury. The property is a early 1900's brownstone and the owners have maintained it's historic charm and added modern conveniences which made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The breakfasts were fabulous - homeade scones, fresh fruit, artisan breads and cheese, several cereal choices, juice, teas, coffee...something for everyone. The owners are very friendly, helpful with information on local points of interest, restaurants and shopping. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Everything about the Sterling B&B experience was positive. The Garden Room was private, clean, relaxing and comfortable. The linens were top-of-the-line. The bed was more comfortable than my own at home! The modest space was cleverly appointed; maximum use was made of the layout. Thoughtful amenities abounded. The location is convenient; I walked the quiet, tree-lined streets to the bustling 5th Avenue, with its myriad and varied restaurants and bistros. The hosts were welcoming, gracious, efficient, and most thoughtful in preparing scones and fruit to go for my early morning departure.

Room Tip: The Garden Room is private and cozy. There is a little porch with comfortable chairs, inside a priva...

After years of staying in cramped, high-end Manhattan hotels, Sterling B&B was heavenly. This large, stately brownstone offers beautifully redone bathrooms and large bedrooms with first rate linens. The breakfast was complete with good coffee, homemade scones, fruit and cereal. Owners Masha and David are friendly and helpful. Will definitely return!

Spent over a week at Sterling B&B in the Garden Room and enjoyed every minute of it. This was our first time staying outside of Manhattan while in NY for business, and had a great experience. A family run business in an absolutely lovely brownstone on a quiet street. Our room was spacious and bright. 2 thick white terry robes hung inside our private newly renovated bathroom and a fantastic breakfast every single day (fresh pastries, home-made warm out of the oven muffins, fresh cut fruit including blueberries, strawberries and mangos, greek yogurt, cereal, juice and coffee). David helped us with whatever we needed, including arranging car service or directions on the subway. Close walk to the museum, Botanical gardens and lots of fun interesting restaurants within a couple of blocks. Definitely recommend it and we'll be back again for sure!

Room Tip: We stayed a couple of nights in the largest room - which has a couch, work desk, private bathroom an...
