Instead of staying in Manhattan, get across to the Cobble Hill end of Brooklyn and walk along Brooklyn Bridge then to the Promenade, so that you arrive at the Promenade at dusk. Great views of Lower Manhattan.

“You can't come to New York...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

... and not walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Obviously best on a day when the sun is shining, so you can see up and down the river properly. Easy to get to - take the Subway to High Street (Brooklyn) and the steps up to the Bridge are nearby.

“Under construction”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

I'm sure it will be really good when its finished but at the moment it is quite frustrating, there are so many people walking up and back and there is a very small walk way due to construction. Bikes that fly past and nearly knock you over, and you can't see a thing until you get to the middle. I must say though as frustrating as it is, it is worth the walk as the views (after all the construction planks) are amazing. Just make sure you stay walking on the right side as the bike riders get very angry if you don't!

“Walk to NYC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

here's the secret: take the subway into Brooklyn to High St., walk up to the bridge (there's a pedestrian walkway above the traffic), and walk into New York City. The views are great - the Statue of Liberty one way, and the Manhattan Bridge, and beyond, the other, plus NYC and the bridge itself.

“Fun and free with great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

I love walking over bridges and I had a great time walking from the Brooklyn Metro to City Hall. Views were good (there's a good view of the Statue of Liberty) and Brooklyn Bridge Park looked fun too. A nice easy walk.
