During our two week road tour of Alaska we stayed in 9 different B&Bs which all turned out quite well. However, Anschen was our clear favorite -- it's the place and the people we remember when we think back about Alaska! Dawn and Paul are great hosts, the house is BEAUTIFUL, the rooms are CLEAN and spacious, and the atmosphere is like home. The river setting is very peaceful and the breakfasts were top notch. We recommend the "moose ears" !!

If you are looking for a great place to stay, this is the one for you. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and Dawn had a great breakfast in the morning. We felt right at home in their house and Dawn made sure that we had any information we needed about the area.

We stayed with Dawn in July 2007. Dawn made us feel right at home. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and relaxing view. Dawn's routine of waving at the tourboat as it went by became our routine too. While staying in the Fireside Room, I felt like a queen! Dawn provides an assortment of board games, cards, videos, video games and reading material for all interests.
Dawn is a great source of knowledge. If she doesn't know the answer to your question, she'll find someone who can help.

We stayed with Dawn and Paul for 3 nights at the end of March this year. We have stayed at B&B's all over the US and Europe. This was our BEST experience ever.

Between the lovely home, the fabulous location, the warmth we experienced, the pets, the feeling of being at home and of course, the absolutely spectacular views (and pictures) of the Aurora Borealis, we have NEVER EVER had a better B&B stay.

Dawn was wonderful, the Anschen Log House is a delight, the breakfasts were great (she even made us a quick and dirty plane bag for the day we left early. Anschen Log House is HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended.

We will definitely return!

When we planned our trip to Fairbanks we had two goals: to see the Northern Lights, and to experience the "feel" of Alaska. When I found the website for the Anschen Log House, I knew I had stumbled onto just the right place. The log home has a view of the Chena River that can't be beat, and a wrap-around 2nd floor deck that is perfect for viewing the Northern Lights. But what really made the trip one we'll always remember was the hospitality of Dawn and the beautiful setting of the Anschen Log House. Dawn was the perfect host from start to finish: she answered my numerous pre-arrival emails with a ton of useful information (and patience), and made us feel at home the minute we arrived.

A few things we learned:

- Cross-country skiing is much harder than it looks

- Skijoring is much harder than it looks

- Getting up for breakfast after staying up until 3AM watching the Northern Lights is much easier than it sounds

- If you go to Chena Hot Springs, make sure to see the ice museum -- and when you pass the gas station that says "last fuel on this road," make sure you pay attention. The good news is, you'll get enough of a signal out in the middle of nowhere to call AAA.

We left with some amazing pictures of the Northern Lights, incredible memories -- and a new friend we can't wait to visit again.

For our first trip to Alaska to celebrate our 5th year wedding anniversay, my husband and I wanted to stay in a log home, after a long extensive search we found just the right place, the Anschen House. Well, not only did the beautiful and comfortable home live up to the photos on the web, our host really made our stay in Alaska special. Dawn warmly welcomed us and made us feel right at home along with her delicious breakfast. I recommend the the moose ears and nuggets. We loved her informative tales of Alaska (we repaid her in kind with our tales of New York!) and she was extremely helpful in guiding us to the right spots for us to visit. Now I can't forget about Cali and Sydney, they were also a pleasure. We are already planning a second trip and hoping to meet the other host, Paul. We'll definitely stay at Anschen House.

The Anschen Log House is a beautiful home. Dawn is a lovely and warm person who makes you feel like you are at home. Also she is a great cook. The house sits right by the river where you can sit outside and enjoy nature at its best. The rooms are absolutely wonderful. They are very comfortable and private. The house has this huge georgeous fireplace where you can sit in front of and relax on the comfortable sofas. There are so many other amazing things about the house that someone would want to experience.
